You shouldn't go past 42 week because your amniotic fluid starts goi your placenta starts to die after 42 so but whatever to Each their own you should really talk to your doctor about it personally

Just because it was dangerous on YOUR situation does not mean it is dangerous in someone else's, nor does it mean anyone else who says something you don't agree with is ignorant. That is completely uncalled for and a horribly ignorant thing to say in and of itself. I stated legal facts of medical practice and also pointed out that risks come with any decisions. LadyBeely pointed out facts that can also be checked with simple research and never suggested that "going over" was perfectly fine for all pregnancies.

You always have a choice- though there may be consequences and risks involved in your choice. If any doctor literally makes you do anything  he or she would very very likely lose licensing and the ability to practice again if it becomes reported. It's illegal.

Have you ladies read the new proposals to AAP? Making pregnancy a 42wks thing now? Theres a big motion for it from several doctors. AAP is American Association for Pediatrics. Pregnancies if left uninduced can vary up to a full 5wks (women carrying healthily until 45wks uncomplicates). And yes drs WILL let you go past. They cannot force you unless you are in danger and even then you can say no but as long as baby is doing just fine the choice is entirely the mothers.

Once you hit 40 weeks doctors let you go until 42 weeks and should book you in to get induced love. Good luck. You don't have a choice after 42 weeks you get induced

"Won't let you"? That reeaally isn't how that works. All medical procedures are elective if you or, in the event you are incapacitated, your Medical Power of Attorney say no to something, a physician is legally bound to follow that decision. Doctors don't like to let you think that's true, but it is. They are free to try and convince you with their reasoning but they can't make you do anything.

@ladybeeley Drs won't let you go past 42 weeks bc it causes more risk to the baby. You start losing amniotic fluid, if you haven't had a baby by 42 weeks then they try induction or c-section. It also causes risks to you. Induction shouldn't be talked about until you hit your EDD, unless you bring up to your dr.

most doctors won't let you carry past 42 weeks because of the placenta.

What do you mean they wont let you carry past 42wks? They cannot force you to be induced its not like they call the police and say "she missed her induction time to pick her up" lol. Its mothers choice. But im sure after you hit measuring at 39wks he will talk induction with you if thats your choice.

They won't let you carry past 42 weeks, so even if you don't go into labour before 42 weeks, you'll be induced at 42 weeks :+)
