Weight Gain.

How do doctor's figure what is an "normal" amount of weight gain and an "excessive" amount? I gained 85lb pounds with 30 days to go and the doctor's love to tell me I have gained excessive weight I'm above the "normal range".. I believe every woman is different so I can't be based off any other woman.. Just a thought any ideas?

The baby is 6lbs and everything reads healthy. Is there anything I should be concerned about now?

Gaining to much weight can put you at risk for multiple complications. I gained 68lbs with my first and I was underweight prepregnancy. This time I have really watched my weight because I felt absolutely horrible after I gave birth and I had a lot of problems during labor.

Yes, everyones body is different. Ive gained an excessive amount of weight too but only by 15 lbs.
My personal goal was to gain the minimum since i am overweight  which was 15 lbs. Ive gained almost 30
Gaining 85 pounds is in the excessive range because someone came up with the "average" individual. According to height + weight. So in those standards, yes you gained an excessive amount of weight.
What do they gain by pointing it out? Idk lol i always kind of thought it was funny when drs were like "your overweight" or "lose weight" and im like "am i paying you to say the obvious?"
Of course there are risks as in big baby, HBP, etc

Because there is an average amount of weight to be gained when you factor in baby, placenta, fluid, uterus, increased blood flow, and fat stores. Usually they say if you are underweight to start you should gain between 30-35 lbs, if you are average weight 20-30lbs and if you are overweight 15-20 lbs. Any more than that is likely just extra fat stores which can put you at risk for diabetes, birth complications, increased need for a cesarean, and prolonged healing afterwords. Your Dr isn't meaning to insult you, they are just trying to help you have the healthiest pregnancy. As long as you feel good though and aren't having any complications I wouldn't worry too much

It all depends on how much weight you used to weight before pregnancy!
