Pregnancy and Paternity

A woman I was with is pregnant. I had protected sex with her on Januray 4th or 5th. A condom which did not break, slip off, or appear to be damaged in anyway upon inspection (before insertion and after withdrawal). I withdrew immedialty upon if not during ejaculation into the condom. While the sex I had was protected during penetration it is possible that bare penis rubbed against vulva prior to penetration and that pre-ejaculate might have been deposited there. I suppose it's possible that the pre-ejacualate found it's way into her or that somehow sperm leaked out of the base of the condom. What are the chances? I think both those scenarios are unlikely.

She had unprotected (withdrawal method with her intoxicated ex-boyfriend) sex on December 31st. Due date is expected to be 9/18/08 (she was 14 weeks pregnant on 3/20 or 3/21), so the baby is either his or mine and given the scenario probably his. While I understand it's possible that the baby is mine, I believe it is unliklely given the scenario described above. We must wait until the baby arrives, ~6 months, to prove paternity for certain. I'm driving myself crazy with worry in the meantime. Don't know how I can last 6 months of this.

I simply don't know the probabilites. I would very much appreciate a physician's opinion (hopeful that it will give me peace of mind) on how much I should worry. Is this a 1 in 100, 1 in 5, 1 in 1,000 scenario that it's mine?  Just found all this out and I'm scared (obviously).

PS, not that it's relevant because it clearly didn't work, but she was on the pill.

I'd say the chances are higher in the ex-bf 's case but there's always that 1 in a million chances it could be yours but I highly doubt it.

The only way to know wil be a paternity test, she had sex with both of you within 5 days, it won't make a difference when she has the baby, you have to get a paternity test

I am a nurse at an ob office. If the girls last period was 10th -15th of december than she may have conceived around christmas. However, not all women ovulate around the 14th day and because she had sex with both of you with in 10 days, the chances of you being the dad are 40/60%. it would seem more likely that the ex is the father, but she may have been ovualting when she was with you making y ou the dad. There is really no way of knowing with out the dna test. let me know when she found out she had a positve test and i may can tell you more. but that still may not help a lot. her having sex with the two of you 5 day apart, she can not even be sure who the dad is.

I agree with 2pinklines, I'm no expert but if she is due 9/18 she Ovulated and conceived on or around 12/28 which would most likely make the baby her ex's. If she Ovulated later than it could be yours but if she was on a normal cycle (which I'm assuming she was since she was on the pill) that she most likely Ovulated around Dec 28th making the baby her ex's. Her egg wouldn't live long enough for your sperm to get to it.

But like any Paternity war, only a test after the baby is born will let you know for sure.
Good Luck!

is her dates by last missed period or by ultrasound? b/c if its her last missed period then she got preggo dec. 27. if she has a "normal 28 day cycle"
However if her dates are by ultrasound they are always give or take 2 weeks, so she could be 2 wks further then she is or 2 weeks less then what she is.....

its going to be a long 6 months......
