Strawberries are a natural laxitive
Thanks, so far I have up my intake in fiber: fruit, vegetables, and even mini wheat cereal. My water intake has always been good, my bladder thinks so too (lol). My dr. said I should take a stool softener so I got a CVS brand. Since Stool Softeners aren't absorbed into the body I thought it can't hurt. Anyhow I hope this works soon I am dying for a good...
Drinking lots of water will help, that will probably do the most for you. Also having most types of fruit help, too. They all have natural fiber in them. I've been constipated too, but with what I have written, it has helped. Good luck.
Thank you all for the info. Ashelen I hope you have a safe and smooth labor.
As Ashleen said, most stool softeners are safe throughout pregnancy. I took one called Surfkak (sp???). Well, I can't remember exactly how to spell it, but you'd def know if you saw it but most are safe. If you are uncertain you can always call your doctor or even ask a pharmacist.
I eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning so far it's helped keep me somewhat regular. I also was told miralax was the only safe laxative to take but I would check with your dr first before taking any medication.
Make sure you are eating lots of Fiber and dont stuff yourself when you eat. By eating too much in one sitting its harder for your digestive system to break down the food. My OB told me that drinking lots of water helps prevent constipation as well.
Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!
duh..it was a long night. i meant to say warm-water enema not enemy LOL!
most stool softeners are safe to take and there are several laxative liquids that you can use as well...you need to call the person you plan to use as your OB and ask them because all doctors have different recommendations. You could always try giving yourself a warm-water enemy or drinking prune juice...or (and it sounds like a commercial) eat some Activia yogurt with every meal, that kept me completely regularly through two pregnancies :).
Big congrats on your BFP..happy and healthy 9 months :). I"m in the hospital being induced for labor as I type and if you're interested I'm posting my labor story on this forum as it happens <3
