Getting a second opinion

Since my doctor has no answer for me of what is going on I want to get a second opinion.  In doing that does that mean all my papers have to be transferred from my doctor now to the doctor that I'm getting a second opinion from?  Basically what I want to know is can my doctor now find out that I got a second opinion?

Ask to be referred to an imaging center because your doctor is right, either the techs don't know what they are doing or the machines are  busted.
You don't need to go to a nwe doctor altogether, just go to an independant imaging facility where they can give you a more accurate ultrasound. and then they will send the pictures and the results to your doctor.
Your uterus could also be tilted which makes it harder to see, definitely get your doctor to refer you to an independant u/s facility.

Last Friday I had an ultrasound done.  The tech could not find my uterus with internal ultrasound.  She did external on the stomach and we saw the sac but could not the baby, well barely.  There was not heartbeat that we can see.  She said there was something blocking my uterus or a shadow over my uterus that made it hard to see.  And that was that.  My doctor said she had no idea what it could be but wanted me to come back that next Tuesday, which was yesterday.  I had another internal ultrasound.  The tech (a different one) never said 1 word when doing my ultrasound.  She found the heartbeat.  We saw the baby.  Hear rate was still low but higher than the second ultrasound.  The only thing the tech did say was "there is SOMETHING there".  Cause you could barely see anything.  Well 8 days before this we had an ultrasound and saw the baby and heart beat.  I was thinking I was 8 weeks.  Ultrasound measured 6.0 weeks.  Yesterday the baby measued 6.4 weeks.  Grew a little from 8 days ago.  So my doctor said she doesn't understand.  She said if the heart is beating the baby has to be growing.  That's why she thinks maybe the machines are messed up or the techs aren't trained enough.  Thats why I just want to go some place else for right now.

you can always request your doctor to recommend a separate ultrasound imaging facility and then she'll look over the results.
What is it that she is not seeing?

I would like to start over with everything.  But what I really want is just an ultrasound from another office.  My doctor is telling me that the machines may not be great and thats why we aren't seeing much.  I want to see if I can see more at another office.  My doctor now has been great!!  She delievered my first via c-section.  I just feel so bad.  I just don't want her to know.  More than likely I won't stay with the office I find.  Just want some second opinions!  Thanks!

Its your right as a patient to get a second opinion from any other doctor and your personal doctor shouldn't get upset about it.  You can request your records to be transfered to another doctor or you can go through a new series of tests with a new doctor, but the new doctor will most likely like to see your old files.
