What to expect?

First appointment this week. What should I expect? Will they take an ultrasound to tell me what they think the due date will be? Or will they just go by my last period for right now? Do I get blood tests done? Will they give me a pap smear? I like to be prepared..I hate the unknown. Lol (:

At my first one, I peed in a cup, had my weight and blood pressure checked. I had a pelvic exam along with a pap smear and also a breast exam. Then after that, went to the sonogram place that's in the same building as my doctor's office, saw baby and then went to the lab and had all my bloodwork done! It wasn't bad at all!

Oh yeah, and I had to leave a urine sample, which I do every appointment. The first one is to confirm pregnancy and then they check for sugars, proteins, blood, and infections in it.

In all honesty it depends on the doctor. My first appointment I talked to the nurse most of the time answering questions about family history, past pregnancies, that kind of stuff and then I saw the doctor and she talked to me a little bit did a Pap smear and also checked my boobs to see if I would be able to breastfeed as well as my reflexes. Then she had me come back in 3 weeks to hear the heartbeat. I didn't get blood work done or an ultrasound. She just went off the first day of my last period.

Blood tests will be done, urine sample, if they have time they might fit you in for an ultrasound... same as a pap if not it will be done until next visit. They will check height, weight, blood pressure as well.
