When did you start your baby registry?

I'm almost 11 weeks, and I was wondering when you started a baby registry.  I know for our bridal registry, we started it like a year beforehand, but we also got married in a different state.  I have family in a few different states, and we are planning to register at Target and Babies R Us.

If you catch it going on clearance, then that is GREAT, but we didn't catch it until it was too late and couldn't find any of the items...I think clearance goes fast!  Anyways, have fun no matter what!

As with Sweetangel, I too had to do some fast shopping, we registered and made a fun day when we found out the sex, but the bedding, which I started buying, and the graco collection that I fell in love with soon started going clearance, so we ended up buying the rest of our bedding and our pac and play and a few other items just so we would have it, mede my registry kinda short LOL!

But I couldn't wait any longer after we found out we were having a GIRL!!! ( I have 2 boys if you missed the excitement HEHE)

Have fun looking and researching brands and different items, that way when you do know what you are having you will be well informed!! HAVE FUN!

This is my 4th and we have none of our baby stuff left. We only registered so we wouldn't forget what we liked. We had a blast it was fun to pick out everything together.
Congrats to you.

I'm not registrering. The only place in my town is walmart and we can't register online in canada (at walmart). and since I am on bedrest i can't go to the store and do it myself. We have a shower next week (they are redoing Christmas for us and then a shower) and technially i will still be on bedrest. The next shower is mid-march and i think i will have the baby before then, once i am allowed up at 36 weeks i think it iwll happen that week. I could do Babies r us online but i'm the kinda person who like to be able to look at things first and for our wedding we had an instore regisrty at canadain tire and an online one at sears and not one thing was bought off the online one.

Oh yeah, just another thing about registering 'early', we registered at 18w, and I just had my shower at 29w...The original set we wanted for pack n play, high chair, bouncy seat etc. ended up being no longer available online due to a new version, very similar but more pricey being released...the old items weren't even on sale!  Since we had/have a lot of people who buy on line, we deleted the items from the registry and had to choose all over again ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN!  So, we ended up picking stuff out three times and the third time people bought the stuff right away!  My poor grandmother was soooo confused!

I didn't want to register until after the first trimester just in case something went wrong. And then since my gender screening was only like 5 weeks away at that point I just waited until I knew what I was having. While waiting though I did lots of research so that I could get the "best" for my daughter.

That is too funny!  Well, DH and I were going to walk around Babies R Us last weekend, just to get an idea, but we never got around to it.  I'm going home to see my family this weekend, and I have to talk with my older sister about stuff she found and used for my nephew.  She already told us not to register for a Pack and Play for my parents house, as Danny never used his, and she will bring it down to their place.  I have been getting lists of stuff from stores, and I personally know that I need more of certain things than they say.  I tried to plan everything for our wedding like a year in advance, and it worked for some things, and not for others.  I did, however, schedule my 12 week ultrasound today for President's day!

Jenn, i am a planner, always been since ive had a job at 14 lol. I wont actually go into a store right now and do a registry, but i do have a list(and sales paper clippings) of items i want. I have a boy list and a girl list lol.  So right about now i have a list of items i want and an idea of where and what type of shower i want. I always put my ideas on paper. Once i get to a "safe zone" i will start putting things in action:)  I m only 7w6d so i have a long way to go, nervous bcuz i had a missed m/c june 08 at 10w1d. (only reason i m not using the shower theme from the last pregnancy is bucz the shower wudve been done thanksgiving weekend and was geared towards that type of theme)

Just look threw some magazines, sales papers and get an idea of the things you want for a boy and girl, then once you find out the sex Run with it, at least you will no what you want and wont spend hours trying to think while in store if you want something or not, or just putting anything on the list just bcuz.

Again, i cant help it, im just a planner, me and my sister. Every year after her sons b-day party she already knows the theme for the next year and within a month has reserved the location and within 4 months bought the party items. she will b 30 this year and planned her party 2 years ago, all she has to do is get her outfit made and show up to party.

i did it i think around 21-22 weeks. you dont want to do it too early cause even doing it at that time, some of the things i put on the registry were not able to be found or discontinued.

DH and I looked into stuff early on that we thought we'd like/want...tried to read reviews and get opinions.

The day of my 18w appointment where we got our ultrasound and found out we were having a boy, we went to lunch and then we went to Babies R Us and did our registry.  It was a big, fun day!  Then time dragged until my shower!  I had one on Saturday and I have another one in two weeks.  So far the only item that was  a necessity that hasn't been purchased is my breast pump...expensive and personal...I kind of expected to buy it for myself anyways!  I more or less put it on the registry to remind myself that I wanted that brand/model.

Good luck!

When I was first pregnant with my first baby, I registered right away. I was young (19 yrs) and had this feeling of urgency to get everything done RIGHT THEN. And then time went realllllly slow.

Once we found out we were having a GIRL I wiped my registry completely clean (it was neutral stuff), did more research on products, and basically just re-did the whole thing.

Save yourself time and do research now. Find what you like for both genders. Once you find out, go have a GREAT time registering!

I always made a big thing out the day I found out the sex.  I would go find out the sex, go out for a nice dinner, and that night we would go to babies r us and do my gift registry.  I was too excited to wait any longer then I absolutely needed too!!!!
