When is it necessary to call the doctor???

Ok, so here's the deal.  I have been having some symptoms that are starting to worry me, but I don't want to call the doctor if I don't need to....I am on my 5th pregnancy, so you would think that I should know these things, but for some reason, I just am stumped.  I have been vomiting like crazy, and it's not really regular vomiting, it's like projectile vomiting.  I do still get nauseous every single day, but yesterday is when I started puking like that.  Not only that but I have been getting horrible migraines every single day for probably the last month to month and a half, and they aren't getting any better.  I have this back pain that I usually have, but for the past 3 days, it has gotten so much worse that I can't move, well, I can move, it's just very very painful, and it takes me about 3-4 minutes to either get out of bed or get up from a sitting position (no joke)...and when I walk, I have to walk hunched over.  I have been getting contractions for the last 4-5 days, but I have not kept track of frequency or anything because I am too scared...I went into preterm labor with my first and my third children.  They really arent all that painful, just uncomfortable.  I am 21 1/2 weeks along now.  I have tried various things for all these problems, but nothing is seeming to work.  For the headaches, I have been taking tylenol, and drinking water like crazy, I feel like my eyes are going to start floating anytime now!!  That didn't work, so I did call my doctor's office about the headaches only, and all they told me to do is increase my liquids (which I already did), take extra iron because I am anemic (they got my labs back that day), and to make sure and have at least 2 searvings of caffine a day and that should take care of it.  Well, I have done all those things, and it hasn't even helped in the slightest bit.  I have tried laying on my side for the contractions, but nothing, I really can't think of anything to do about the vomiting except take it like a pro.....I am just confused.  I don't know if I should call the doctor, or not because I don't want to be one of those people who call for the littlest things....and then feel like a dork later.  Does any of this sound like res flags to anyone?  Does anyone have any advice for things to do for any of these symptoms?  Please help me!!!!

Anytime they don't call you back after an hour, you're welcome to call back and leave another message. Your baby's life and well-being is very important. Don't feel stupid for calling!

Just an update....Well, I tried to call my doctor's office today, but they never called me back!!!!  Soooo frusterating, maybe they didn't think it was as emergent as I did...maybe I was just being a doofus!  I haven't thrown up anymore today, but my back is still killing me, and I'm still getting the contractions...do you guys think I should call back again, or just leave it alone?

I would call your doctor just incase though, severe vomitting can cause contractions, and preterm labor if you're dehydrated, because even though you're still drinking a lot, you're also vomitting a lot, I'd say at least call and ask them, let them decide if you should be seen or not, and make sure to tell them everything, including your history of preterm labor. I hope everything works out for you!!

But the confusing part is, the vomiting started way after the other things, and not only that, but I drink at least three quarters of a gallon of water a day (no exaggeration!!)

adding on to joy's post, dehydration will cause headaches, and many other aches and pains throughout your body, including contractions!

Oh thank you so much!  See there's one more thing, though that I forgot to add in there, though....I have had pain like this for a long time now.  It started getting really bad when I was pregnant with my last baby.  It will act up really bad out of no where, and so one time, when I had an episode, it was like in March of 08' I believe, I went to the doctor...they then sent me into a physical therapist, and they tried oh so many things on me, like magnets, ultrasounds, excersises and all other kinds of things.  So what they told me is that due to having kids, my back has become overly bent down there at the bottom where the spine curves above your butt.  well the normal person has kind of an "S" shape to it, and mine is bent all the way in half almost touching.  They were going to put me into surgery, but right when it was supposed to happen, I lost my insurance.  So it never happened.  Do you still think it's something to worry about????

You NEED to call your doctor. You can even call right now if they have a 24/7 answering service and the on-call doctor should get back to you.

If you continue to vomit like that you'll become severely dehydrated if you're not already.

If you're in that much pain to the point where it's hard to get out of bed, I would say definitely contact your doctor. It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry, you don't want your little one coming, it's much too early, and since you have a history of preterm labor I would definitely talk to someone. When symptoms start acting up out of no where it can be a bad sign, so at least call L&D or your doctors office tomorrow morning, if anything it will ease your mind to know everything's okay!
