I thought I would be ready to tell after seeing a strong hb at 7 wks, but then they did not measure the heartrate at my 7 wk u/s (they just confirmed that it was present). I was so disappointed. So we decided to wait until after confirming the hb again at my 12 wk appt. That is this Fri, so assuming all goes well, we will be telling everyone this weekend! I have not had any pregnancy symptoms, so it has been easy to hide.
we told DH's family at 14 weeks right around christmas last year. And we didnt want my family to know (personal reasons). Finally at 27 weeks after my first Ultrasound I uploaded them on facebook for my friends to see (I told my friends as soon as i found out i was pregnant). And thats how my family found out. I'm almost 30 weeks now.
I think at 12 weeks..at least thats what i intend to do ...
Good luck! ;)
Ive told immediate family right away but bosses and friends i waited till i was atleast passed the 12 week mark since chance of miscarriage drops significantlly.
We told family on Valentines day (last year) as well. I was about 5 weeks, so pretty much right away. This included very close friends as well.
We didn't make it too public like Facebook or work until after our 12 week ultrasound. I didn't say anything but posted the best pic of the ultrasound with the caption "surprised?" LOL
Just do what's comfortable for you....it's soo exciting though, you feel like you want to burst! Congrats by the way.
We told my mom & dad on Valentine's Day...and they told the rest of the family by that Sunday...so make sure if you don't want others knowing to make it known to those that you do tell...Its totally up to you guys when to tell others tho...
We told my parents n grandparents right away, we held off on his family for a little while because there could have been a chance he was going to prison so we knew his family wouldn't approve ( baby wasn't planned but not
Unwanted) the rest of the ppl like friends and everyone we waited till after 12 weeks cos I had some early bleeding so wanted to be sure it was going to work out
I'll just tell you what we do. BTW I've been pregnant 9 times. I've had 2 first trimester miscarriages so we only tell really close family early on. The rest we wait until AFTER a successful ultrasound and we see/hear the heartbeat and I am ATLEAST out of the first trimester. It's just so much easier than having to go back and tell everyone if something were to go wrong.
we told close family that day and the day after or so. then around 7 weeks we announced it on facebook for everyone else lol
I told my mom pretty much 30 minutes after I had taken my pregnancy test and it came up positive, and she told the rest of my family for me. We told everyone else (like my father in law and DH's family) after my ultrasound, which I had gotten at 7 weeks.
With my first baby, we waited until we had the ultrasound at about 8-9 weeks to tell our family but held off on telling friends for a long time...I want to say 'til maybe 14-15 weeks...I was super paranoid. With this baby, since we were temporarily living with my in-laws when we found out, we had to tell them right away because I was nauseated from even before I took the pregnancy test, so if they saw me running to the bathroom to get sick fairly often, they'd for sure find out...LOL But, we told our other family members once I had the first ultrasound and told friends close to the end of the first trimester.
