Why is my girlfriend bleeding from her vagina? Is she pregnant?

She is a 23 year old female. She has stomach issues that become especially aggravated when eating unhealthy foods, likely due to her endometriosis. She recently had a ear/throat infection and was prescribed antibiotics(amoxicillin). She is on orthotricyclen birth control. Upon mixing the two, she began to bleed from her vagina. Four days after stopping the antibiotics, she continues to bleed and it concerns me. It is normal blood(like when cutting yourself) rather than discharge/menstraul blood. She has been taking ortho for roughly a year and started antibiotics close to two weeks ago. Her last menstraul cycle was just over two weeks ago. Her doctor seems to be the type who prescribes to treat symptoms and doesn't get to the root of the problem(not that I know anything). Any recommendations and/or suggestions?

It sounds like the antibiotics caused the birth control to not work which basically is like taking a week of the sugar pills when a woman gets her period. Most likely things are ok and it's just going to have to take her body getting used to the BCP again for things to go back to normal but if she keeps bleeding, or gets a positive pregnancy test then she needs to be seen.

Well, birth control can be voided when mixed with antibiotics. I honestly don't know why, but it happened to a friend of mine when she got sick. It cancelled out her birth control, and she got pregnant. Now. If she was pregnant and bleeding the bright red blood that you're talking about ... like when you cut yourself ... that is not a good sign. She may need to go to the ob and the doctor just to get it checked out. Maybe just tell them SPECIFICALLY what you want. It could be a side effect from the birth control and antibiotics. The chances that she is pregnant is probably pretty slim anyway because they warn us that if we start bleeding BRIGHT red anytime during pregnancy, that we need to go to the hospital right away. You see, if it was implantation bleeding it would be very light pink/brown/black. It would look like old blood, and there wouldn't be very much of it. I hope that I've answered all of your questions and at least somewhat put your mind at ease.
