Wine? Red Wine?? Is this okay? PLEASE COMMENT!

Is it to have a glass or two of wine? I'm not really a drinker, I used to smoke before my pregnancy, but now I'm as sober as can be. I'd just like to relax and have a glass of wine with my guy. I'm 22w1d btw. Is this okay or naw??

NO! As soon as you drink it it affects your baby it's been proven look it  up on YouTube.  The baby starts jolting once its introduced in its bloodstream. Even small amounts.  They are saying a cig or two a day is ok now. Come on! Thats just crazy docs now are letting pregnant women do more and more drugs or eat/drink things they shouldn't and as a result more babies are born with defects or learning disabilities.  Stick with water and fruit juices :) i don't even drink soda.

Lalaizzykover - downs syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome - nothing to do with alcohol.
And a downs child is as beautiful and lovable as a non downs child.

Always ask yourself.."if I doubt myself on something enough to have to ask someone else, then I probably shouldn't be doing it."

No.dont risk it.when your baby comes I to the works would you stick a bottle of wine in his or her mouth?i highly doubt it.dont make risky decisions.you can wait until after pregnancy.there are many other healthy ways to relax with your man instead of alcohol being as how you have no idea how it will effect your unborn child,no one does.

Alcohol is never good for the baby. So id say no. With all the autism ths ts going around I wouldnt risk it. But I dont think women that choose to are wrong as long as its just a glass.

mommyofalibra - my boyf would have a fit too! I'm trying to convince him that its not harmful. I know many people who have drank wine while pregnant. I just want to know my facts. I don't want to feel like a bad mom, but I feel a little isolated when we have friends over for a kick back, and I'm not included in ANY turn-up-age. Lol I'm literally twittling my thumbs. Anyone know of any non alcoholic wine or wine cooler brands???

I just had ONE sip of a wine cooler about 2 hours ago and felt horrible after, my baby will not stay still now... I feel like the worst momma ever, I think it's really just up to you and how your conscience works

I've thought about a glass here and there but i know that as protective and concerned as my bf is, he'd have a fit if i brought it up. All i do is fantasize lol. However, if i got to craving it I'd definitely ask my doctor in front of him

One glass, not two. One glass is 4 oz, pay attention to portion size.
lalaizzy - Even excessive alcohol consumption can absolutely never cause Down syndrome. That's not how it works. Down syndrome is a genetic mutation that happens at the moment the sex cells combine. Fetal alcohol syndrome is a completely different thing and there is not a single case in the literature of one single glass of wine ever causing that either. Do some research before you say things like that.

I definitely wouldn't do more than your body was used to before becoming pregnant. My hubby got me some alcohol free wine because I was having such cravings but personally won't drink any alcohol.

Red wine has a lot of iron in it that can help with being anemic while pregnant and is good to help build blood back up after baby is here. But I myself have never drunk while pregnant, Im nervous as ever.

A lot of women and doctors say a glass is fine. But I believe I wouldn't give my 5 year old a glass of wine so why would I givey 19 week old fetus.

The big debate in the world. Some argue that a glass of wine is good for baby. Others argue there is no safe limit. I have no clue what to advise you. Personally a glass of wine doesn't seem a cause for concern but that's my opinion.
