I've done quite a bit of researching on these test because mine came back positive for Trisomy 18. They told me my chances were 1-13 that he had this condition. After consulting with a perinataligist & further reading these test have a VERY high false positive rate. As high as 60% in some studies. After months of worry my baby doesn't have anything wrong with him. He had a small calcium deposit on his heart muscle that is now gone & even if it didn't dissolve it would have never affected his heart function. These spots are quite common in fetuses (4-7% of babies have them in utero). I will never do this test again.

I declined mine too for the same reason. I figure why worry about something you have no control over.

I declined mine. My doctor said 99% of the time you need to go for further testing. With me being a worrier I decided not to do it because even if something's wrong with babe they cannot prevent it and I'm gonna love my babe no matter what :)

It depends on the doctor and where you get it done at, I got mine within 48hrs.

My doctor told me alot of positives are sometimes given with the test, if a positive is given then they move to test your amniotic fluid if you wish.

I had mine done last month, the nurse told me it was 98-99% accurate bc blood doesn't lie n it was testing for downs, spine bifida, anencephaly and Edwards syndrome. But its basically an indicated test, like if something shows up in your blood then you'd get further testing to know what's going on.
