Worried....

Okay, so I've been breaking out abnormally with this pregnancy and since I knew that retinoids and salicylic acid are no-nos during pregnancy i started using benzoyl peroxide twice a day -- and it helped.

My doc said it was okay to use and even MotherRisk said it was okay to use, and now I have read on pregnancy sites that it is considered a "low risk to the fetus" and that it is a Category C drug during pregnancy, meaning NO TESTS have been done to see whether it affects a fetus. Basically it's unknown.

SO..... am wondering: should I stop using it? And should I worry?

And does anyone know of any acne treatments that aren't dangerous during pregnancy? I don't want to endanger my baby but I ALSO DON'T WANT to be a pizza face! Superficial, I know, but I feel a need to vent today. Maybe I just need to get over it. I have chosen to forego dying my hair during the pregnancy because of the risk so I am prepared to go without certain things if need be..... Just feeling super unattractive lately. What have you ladies done or used to deal with one, acne, and two, finding out that something you have been using regularly *could* be a no-no?

thanks, Jennie! i also have been breaking out on my chest, which really doesn't look good, lol!  it seems similar to a heat rash too. you said you broke out badly at the beginning: did it go away or decrease?

I broke out quite a bit in the beginning of my pregnancy.  I bought some benzoyl peroxide cream that was just for spot treatments and that seemed to help me perfectly fine.  It also helped with my chest that kept breaking out too!  I would use plain old rubbing alcohol in between putting it on my face so my skin wouldn't get too dry.
