AF that never ends??

Ok ladies Im very confused about what the heck is going on with my body right now. Taylor was born 8/8/09 and I bled for the 1st 5 weeks. Then stopped for one week, then on Sept 24 I got what I can only asume is AF. It has been very light (I only need to wear liners and im fine). But its been 9 days already and is showing no sign of ending!!!! I did get the depo shot after Taylor was born before leaving the hospital. Do you guys think that could have done something?? I normally have AF for 2 maybe 3 days and im done. This is my 4th baby so I do know that things can be screwed up after having a baby.................but 9 days???? This is getting old:-(  Anyone eles have this happen?? Im so frustrated!

I bled for about 9 weeks after I have my daughter.
It was just sooooo heavy I thought I was gunna die! lmao
Funny thing is is that I never cramped? lmao But that's a good thing!
I was having WICKED blood clots too. Big chunks of dark red and purpley lookin brain stuff. lol.
I thought for sure something was wrong. They were so big it felt like I was giving birth to pine cones!! lmao
Turns out they missed peices of my placenta when I had my c-section. That's what all those cloths were about and some of the reason why my bleeding lasted so long.
After it finally quit I felt FREE. lmao.
A month later, right on Q like I used to be on a 28 day cycle, I got what I THOUGHT was AF.
It lasted like usual, about 6 days and was just like my old periods, first 2 days were heavy, second 2 days were medium/light bleeding, and the last 2 days was just spotting pink and then to brown and then stopped.

2 weeks later I started bleeding again and it wasn't as long or like my normal period pattern.
Then 2 weeks after that I'd bleed again but like my normal period pattern.
And then 2 weeks after that I'd get the weird period again.
That went on for a lil while, then I stopped bleeding all together for 3 months.

At first when I went a whole month without bleeding, and then passed when I expected my normal period, I thought, "Well sh*t I prolly ain't got nothing left to bleed! Jeez!" lmao
But then went another month.
And I was talking to my mom, and she told me when she was breastfeeding she hardly got her periods either.
So I thought, well breasfeeding can stop ovulation, therefor, stopping your periods.
And I thought that's what was happening to me.
And then went another month.

My MIL noticed I wasn't asking her to pick up tampons and asked me why I wasn't asking for tampons.
I told her I hadn't bleed for 3 months and it's cuz I'm breastfeeding.

So anyways, to keep a long story short, she demanded I take a pregnancy text just to make her shut up, and I did, and turns out I was about 12 weeks pregnant. lol

I suspect if I hadn't have gotten pregnant, I probably would have continues to bleed every 2 weeks until I was able to get some help from a BC.

I'm getting on the Mini Pill and getting fitted for a diaphragm after this baby.
I've never been on birth control before but I've heard alot of bad things about the Depo.
My younger sister is on it and the shot itself doesn't make you gain weight, but it causes you to have subconsious munchies, and you tend to eat ALOT more and don't even realize how much you're eating. It also causes irregular periods and alot of bleeding at first. And it can lead to depression... or worse. Mood swings, even Bipolar disorder.
It's not the best choice in bc I'll tell you that much.
I feel pretty safe with the mini pill because it's low dose and recomended for breastfeeding monthers.
Between the pill, a diaphragm and spermicidle lubes and condoms... I think we stand a good chance against hubby's lil armies. lol

After I'm done breastfeeding I'ma have to find something stronger and that makes me nervous cuz of blood clots.
Good thing I'm quitting smoking. lol

Well I went to my OB appointment today and asked the doctor about some kinda shot to make it stop and she said there was nothing I could do and that it will stop on its own:-( Just another sideeffect of the depo according to her. She inserted my IUD and now AF is heavy. On top of that im so crampy I wanna just curl up in a ball and die! UGH! I wonder how long this can possibly go on??? 18 Days now........................

Youre not dying. No worries. Depo messes with your body so badly that I would definitely never do it! I have known ladies that have taken the depo shot and they have all gained weight and funky periods. You are definitely doing the right thing with getting the iud. Good luck!

13 Days:-( UGH!
Thank you ladies! I am getting off the depo. I wasnt planning on using it as BC but it was offered and I want extra protection before I get my IUD (friday). I too had tons of problems with the depo in the past. It took me almost 2 years to concive my 3rd baby. and I gained so much weight!!! But since I am done for now with babies I didnt see the harm.
Great advice about the calf pain! I have heard that before. I dont always think about those thing and have been lucky not to have any problems. I hope my doctor can shed some light onto why im still spotting after 13 day. Soon as I think its going away it gets heavier, ugh! Just go away AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all bc comes with the warning about the risk of blood clots.....the risk increases more if you smoke.

Just a note on ANY form of bc...listen to your body! If you feel any type of calf pain with swelling and it's warm to the touch go to the ER IMMEDIATELY! I was on the pill last year and experienced a pain in my left calf muscle. I dismissed it at first thinking I had maybe pulled a muscle from running on treadmill. After two days my calf was at least an inch bigger than the other one and I knew it was a blood clot. I went to the ER and sure enough I was right. Unfortunately, I also ended up with 3 blood clots in my right lung. I had no typical symptoms (shortness of breath, constant cough) or risk factors for such a thing besides my bc. I was extremely lucky! I warn everyone that's on bc to watch for the signs and go with their gut!

GET OFF OF DEPO, this injection ruined my life.  I am now having so much trouble ttc i was diagnosed with depression at 16 and swore it was because of depo but no one listened to me i was on it for 2 and a half years and have now been ttc for 26 months.  it totally mucks up your cycle for months, mood swings are unbearable, increased hunger and weight gain.  My whole family used to call me a moody b**** until i came off of depo i felt the cloud lift from my shoulders and even after i came off of depo it tooks months for my cycle to regulate.

Please, please, please find another form of bc i really do not recommend this contraception best of luck in whatever you decide

Well Taylor was my last and I didnt want any opps, if you know what I mean. I was pregnant last year while you were pregnant with Conner. Dalton was born 8/29/08. Well 2 months after his birth I got pregnant again:-) Taylor was born 8/8/09. My doctor wanted to be extra carefull and suggested I get it before I leave. I am getting an IUD on October 9th at my 6 week postpardam ( will acually be 8 weeks). I just have never had this happen before, I wish it would just end, lol:-)

I remember I had bled for about 3 weeks after Conner was born. About 2 weeks later I got AF which lasted about 12 days before it let up. Your first AF can be quite long and tiresome after a baby...heck I think its long and tiresome reguardless lol.

I was also on Depo for a few years before Conner, and it did cause me to have irregualr bleeding for the first 6 months...After that I didnt get AF until I was atleast a week late for my next shot. I am thinking that what your going through is completely normal. My only question is why did they start you on BC before you left the hospital? My OB made me wait until after my first AF had ended.
