I've heard you can shower but can't use soap to wash just water.

My doctor told me I go straight to L&D if my water breaks like literally don't do anything else! Call on the way so they know your coming! But you also have to keep in mind that a lot of women's water don't break on their own

Its all depends on how far you dilated after your water breaks that's when labor starts depending on how many centimeters you are you could be in labor anywhere from 1-12 hours but showering will probably be the last thing on your mind at that point

I remember when my mom was having contractions with my youngest brother and she knew she was in labor she still showered before we left for the hospital. She also said sometimes the water helps the pain with her and other times it doesn't.  But it wasn't her first time so it may not be best for a ftm to try that lol

Because there are tooo many skeptical answers about whether to shower or not just talk to your doctor. Every woman is different and your doctor will guide you on what's best for you

I know your not allowed to get a bath after your water breaks, I'm assuming this means a shower too. My doctor said the second my water breaks I need to be on my way to the hospital. I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and already have the car packed... I wouldn't chance it, but discuss it with your doctor at your next appt.

When your water breaks call your Dr and they will go over everything with you, if you aren't having contractions yet they will probably say to stay home for a little however if you are or if anything is off about your water (if its not clear or has an odor) they will probably tell you to come down right away

I've heard if your water breaks you have 24 hours till you can get an infection but i mean I guess it depends on the contractions also.

I'm a ftm too so I really don't know but all I can say is already have your bags packed that way if you don't have time to do anything else but shower you'll be able to just grab and go. Or if you were to go in for some pain and they decide to keep you you already ways want your bag ready so someone can grab it knowing you have everything you need :)
