There was a website I used that made their own crash test system and used that with consumer reports to rate car seats. Idk what the site was though

I bought a graco travel system at walmart for $150. My daughter is 8 months old and I've had zero issues with it. The base, carseat and stroller are all easy to handle.

I will always swear by graco. We were in a roll over car accident thanks to a teenager texting and not paying attention while driving.  She hit us at 45 mph on the driver side.  Baby was 9 months old and not even a scratch on him.  We were horribly bruised and sore but baby woke up the next morning happy and fine.  Graco is our go to choice because of that experience!

We love graco, we have the graco 4ever seat for our baby who's due in February. Don't get safety 1st brand, i hate all there products. I was very disappointed in the original infant car had bought for now 2 year old.

I got a chicco travel set. It was the key fit 30 car seat and cortina stroller. I got them with baby number 1 who is 3 now and I am using it for baby number 2! Chiccos have excellent ratings and I liked how easy it was to put baby in and out of. Plus the car seat has a nice base that you secure in the car and the seat clicks into so that is easy too. We have used the stroller for 3 years with my first and it is still in great shape. The car seat also clicks into the stroller.
