anatomy scan

Hello ladies I turned 19wks today had anatomy scan yesterday @ 18wks n they told me my baby may have an abnormal heart which could be a sign of down syndrome last month they did the down syndrome testing/utrasound and blood work came back negative and normal I read they usually do this test @ 20wks I'm stressing could this be a false positive due to being done too early? Have any of u dealt with this issue??

The docs HAVE to tell you THEIR predictions, but aren't always true. They said that to my mother in law abt my husband, oh he has problems but not any heart conditions or down syndrome lol.

It is true that certain heart issues can be related to Down's syndrome. I think it's a great sign that your testing has come back negative. I would ask to have a more detailed scan with a perinatologist who will be better at determining if there actually is a heart defect. Some time soft markers are seen initially and the next ultrasound ends up being just fine. IF there is a defect it doesn't necessarily mean it's relating to downs either. A perinatologist can also do more tests like a fetal echo to help put your mind at ease. I know it's difficult to get any type of not so great news on your baby but keep in mind that babies develop at different rates and things may be just fine on your next ultrasound. Wishing you the best!!

Most positives for that are false, actually, or so I've heard. When they test even further there's still a very high percentage of it being a false positive. Most times the baby is actually ok. :) I'll be praying for you guys!
