Are any of you planning to cloth diaper? Anyone cloth diaper before? Am I ther only one considering this option?
Hahaha yeah cause even buying the most expensive diaper.out there it.wont cost.that much!

Yeah, I thought it seemed high. I just read it in a baby magazine I got in the mail. I don't know if they add in wipes, ointment or what. I figured it would cost $1200 at most a year. Maybe they wrote it wrong and meant to put by the time they are potty trained? Let's hope!
Based off of a $3000 annual budget for diapers, making your monthly budget $250, you would be buying around 15 BOXES of diapers a month, meaning you would be using 30+ diapers a day!!!
If you spent $250 a month on diapers, that means you are using 30+ diapers a day.....

I just have.to say that.um, we spend about $45-60 a.month, just depends on if my exhusband sends us.diapers with my 2yr.when he comes or.not, and its about to go up to probably about.$80-$100 a month....still definitely no where near. $3000 (and my 2 yr.old is currently potty training and.uses diapers for.bed and if we're going to a park with no potty basically that's the only.time.he uses them)
Yea I've spent MAYBE $40 a month on disposables since my son was born three years ago. Even if I bought the most expensive brand I'd probably still spend maybe $60/mo.
I just have to say that there is absolutely no possible way that i spend 3000 anually on disposable diapers... i wouldnt even say i spend that up until potty training... yes im gonna spend more than cloth diapers but those numbers are way off! Thats 250 bucks a month! not even close!! id say for my almost 2 year old that id spend about $40 a month.... and she poops a lot lol
It is much cheaper. All the money we save from cloth diapering is going into a college savings account for her. :)
I'm going to use gDiapers for my baby.
GDiapers are a hybrid diaper. They have 3 parts to them.
1.)The outter part you see. It has velcro sides.
2.)The waterproof liner snaps into the 1st part.
3.)The cloth insert or disposable insert.
They are a hybrid because it can be used as a cloth diaper or a disposable. :) very handy for sick days or just lazy ones. Lol
When you go to change them you can keep the first 2 parts if they are still clean and just change the cloth.
They fasten with velcro just like a disposable but you put them on "backwards" compared to a disposable. It's harder for babies to take them off when they are older. :)
To wash you simply rinse the poop down the toilet and toss a diaper load in the washer/dryer. All 3 parts are machine washable and dryable. They have a sprayer you can attach to your toilet so you don't have to rinse in the sink or tub. If the cloth inserts ever smell like urine after you wash them you simply boil them in a pot with ammonia assassin. (It's pretty cheap.) If they get discolored you set them in the sun.
Simple and very cheap way to diaper your baby. It keeps baby drier and they have a much less chance of getting a rash :)
I'm getting 6 of each size since you can use one a day and just change the insert when its wet or dirty. You only have to change the liner or outside part if they get wet or poppy. Usually isn't often though.
The cloth inserts I'm getting atleast 12 of each size.(assuming diaper change every 2 hours.) I'm aiming for 24 of each size so I don't have to do laundry every day.
All the diapers and cloth inserts I will need to diaper my baby until she's potty trained will cost me about $500. BUT that's nothing compared to the annual average spent on disposable diapers which is $3000!
So until they are potty trained almost $6000 spent on poop catchers vs. $500? The choice was simple for me. :) and you can save them for a future baby if you want as well! There may be some cheaper cloth diaper options to save you even more money but I like the gDiapers because they are a hybrid diaper. :)

I am not using cloth diapers but my apartment does not have washer and dryer hook ups so I have to go to the laundrymat and so I would really just have to throw them away anyway lol

I'm gonna use cloth diapers as well its cheaper and actually better for the baby cause it stops them from getting as many rashes
