baby constipation?

My baby is almost 2 months.. she hasn't pooped all day today and only once yesterday and it wasn't even enough to call it a good bowl movement. What can I do to help her poop? I breast feed btw.

My dr said that's normal as well! Once every 2 or three days is perfectly acceptable! I wouldn't add anything to a bottle or give her formula if your breastfeeding. Breast milk is easier for babies to digest. Like the above person said drink some prune juice or something like that! Pineapple does it for me lol

I have to add that I am TOTALLY in support of breastfeeding.  But when th baby stops pooping,  it might well be that she isn't getting enough milk.

yep.  As   Texxbby said,  breastfed babies poop more often than bottle fed ones.

If a breast fed baby stops pooping at this age there is some concern that the baby isn't getting enough nutrition.  The problem may not be constipation - it may be lack of nutrition.

With bottle fed babies you know exactly how much they're getting each feeding.  With breastfed ones, you don't know.

At this point I would be more concerned with lack of intake than constipation.

Some babies can go a week without pooping and it's normal. Breastfeed babies tend to poop more depending on what mom eats do not give formula it can cause constipation. Push on tummy gently and make sure it's still soft if it is hard then it's probably constipation and you need to make a Dr appt.

Breastfed babies can go as much as 5 times a day, or as little as once a week. Sounds like its all normal hun, I wouldn't worry too much. If she's acting like she's hurting, like constipated or something, then probably call the doc. Just be prepared for a nice blowout when she finally does go lol.

If your baby is breastfed, he/she can go up to a week without pooping. My first daughter was breastfes and its completly normal hun (:

Put a tsp of corn syrup in her bottle of breast milk. U can do it as often as needed. And breast milk doesn't make babies constipated

No ma'am breast milk is digested easier. Do not give her formula to make her poop. I ebf too and I've never heard to give them formula. You can use a glycerin suppository but I'd call her pedi just to makesure. Just because she gets coconsitpated one time does not mean she is lactose intolerant.

Breastfeed babies tend to poop less. If you want to ensure at least one bowel movement a day, give them one bottle of formula. Breast milk can make them constipated, unless you eat something that will make them poop. Prune juice for Mommy.

Lactose intolerance causes Diarrhea not constipation. It also gives them gas and makes them colic.

Nuratimigen formula is the Best. WIC also gives it to you with a Dr prescription.

My 3 month old son was the same way and it turned out that he was lactose intolerant so as much as I wanted to breastfeed him I had to put him on soy formula I would make an appointment with her pediatrician
