baby following Dad

Is it true that most babies tend to follow their dad? My partner was 23 1/2 inches and 8lb 3oz when he was born. I am pretty tiny. 5'2 and 112lbs pre-pregnancy. I am just worried about tearing or being too small to deliver naturally. What are your thoughts and experiences?

I'm 5'2 and was 95 lbs before pregnancy and my Dr says I shouldn't have any problem delivering naturally! I was a very small baby 2 weeks late and just over 6 pounds so I am hoping she takes after me in that aspect. Her daddy is 6'2 but a tiny 145 so she's got some skinny genes

Thanks all for sharing your experiences. We'll I was 7lb2oz born so if bubs is somewhere in the middle they will be about 7 1/2lbs which I guess is pretty average. Fingers crossed baby isn't too big

I weighed 5 lbs and 20 inches at birth. Husband was 6.9 lbs and 18 inches. First son was 5.10 and 18 inches. Second son was 7.8 lbs and 19 3/4 inches.  Third son was 6.4 and 20 inches. Guess it all depends on baby and genetics. My dr told me that my babies wouldn't get big cause then I wouldn't be able to have them naturally.  Plus she said it has something to do with mom and dad's birthweight, it's usually close to being in the middle of that.

I'm not sure. I was huge, over 10 lbs.. my husband was just under 6 full term. Our first was 6 lbs 3 oz and she was 3 weeks early so on track to be 7.5 if she stayed in the whole time. So ours was in the middle. It's also believed my mom had untreated gestational diabetes with me, the tests weren't as accurate back then.

I read that both parents play a roll in how big your baby is but genetics show that the mothers weight plays a bigger roll than the fathers. Don't know if it's true or not as I haven't had my baby yet. I was 7 lbs and hubby was like 8lbs 3 oz so well see when my son arrives!

My sons father was around 6lbs and like 20inches when he was born and my son was 8lbs 8.6ounces 23inches long i was 7bs ounces and 21inches long... but on my moms side of the family we all have big babies they have all been in the 8-10lbs range other then my sister's son he was only 7lbs

I don't even know how big he was lmao. Prob not true tho. My first was 6lb 12oz. Second was 8lb 4oz. Third was 7lb 12oz (might be off on that one a tad) & I know I was also around 7.12.

Im 5`0 he's 6`2" I was 127 pre pregnancy with our first....he was 8lb9.7oz 20inches  ...and I did  tear a but... But it was worth it :)

Oh God 10lbs 11 1/2 just sounds absolutely huge

Ive never heard that before. My first daughter was 7 lbs 3 ounces. I was born at 6 lbs and my hubby was born 9 lbs so i would say no.

God, I hope not. My husband is 6' 8... I'm 5' 2. Would love to do research on this topic.

It's not always true my children were about the same size as their dad but me and my sister have the same father I was 8lbs 3oz and 21inches long but she was 10lbs 11 1/2oz and 22 inches long
