Serious question.

I do not want this to be directed at anyone but why do pregnant women so far along decide to take oils or other things like teas and idk what to self induce being so close?! I don't really understand. Personally, I'd be trembling to know that I could potentially put my child at risk but everyone is different.

Just want to value different opinions, honestly. Who has tried it? And why? What methods? And did they work?  Is it impatience? Selfishness?

I think they will but not until 40 weeks at least. It probably depends on the dr as well.

Or they can induce you if your baby isn't growing or know it's not a safe place for the baby to be in the womb. .

So they won't do it just because?

Depends on the doctor really. Ive heard you can request it to be done at 40 weeks or later. And if there is medical reason to do it they can do it at 39 weeks. If there is urgent medical need then the can do it as earlier depending on the severity of the medical need.

Yeah, I wouldn't forcefully pop my child out. Plus, isn't more pleasant and bearable when the baby is ready?

How do inductions work?  Like do you HAVE to have a medical reason or will the doctor just agree to it?

It kinda confuses me too. I'm 24 weeks and scared out of my mind to go into preterm labour. I'd rather give birth on my due date rather than have a baby in the nicu. Like if you go past your due date, i understand it can be bad. I also understand those who need to be induced for medical reasons. .. but some women just need to have patience.  They're 37 weeks trying to make baby come out when there's no reason to.

Im 37w2d. Already softened, 20% effaced, not dialated, second baby. Ive been having sex and i plan on eating lots of pineapple. If the baby comes from these methods he must be ready. I would never do castor oil because i dont want diarrhea or my baby going in the womb. I wouldnt even know where to get primrose oil or raspberry leaf tea. I have an appointment next week @ 38w2d i plan on asking about induction because i was induced with my first and i enjoyed the experience and predictability of it all. (i had a medical reason then, and i have one now too btw) these are just my basic plans for natural induction and if it doesnt work by 39w then hopefully my dr will have already scheduled an induction for me. :)

See, I do the things like walking, swimming and stuff like that. With me doing only the physical things and maybe taking some raspberry leaf tea tablets, I know that what Im doing could not possibly harm my child. Id never take oils or do anything that could possibly harm my child. Im not that impatient.
