castor oil

I'm 39+3 so due this Thursday. At my last appointment I was not dialated at all and my midwife said it was safe to try some home induction methods. They think she is measuring pretty big and I have been miserable. I know its selfish to want her here before she is ready but my father leaves for out of state in a few days and I want him to be able to meet her before he leaves. He won't be back for two weeks. And since my midwife gave me the go ahead I figured I would try. I have been taking evening primrose oil as well as red raspberry leave tea. I've been walking a ton, having sex and nothing has really worked. So I decided to try castor oil. I just mixed one ounce in with a milkshake and am drinking it now. I will keep updated on its affects in case anyone else is interested in trying it. But also has anyone else tried it? If so what happened

I dnt remember for sure as it was 6yrs ago lol.. but I'm pretty sure it was wut ever the recommended dose is .. I took it straight and tried to chase it with ice cream after .. it was disgusting but as for the laxative side .. like I said I took it at night .. was able to get a full nights sleep and at 5 in the morning my water broke and it wasn't until I was at the hospital and the contractions started kickin in that I had to goto tthe bathroom .. my labor was short I had him by 10:50 that morning and the only complications I had was due to the fact that his cord was wrapped around his neck

How much did you take? I only took about one ounce, and so far nothing. Its been about an hour and I haven't even had to use the bathroom, I don't know how long it takes for the laxative part to kick in.

I took it with my first pregnancy at 39e and it worked for me (i only took it because my husband was on a 2wk leave from basic training for baby to be born and time was running out) I was already 2cms dialated as I went to the hospital the day before I took it thinking I was in labor because of cramping and I had already lost my mucus plug a couple of days before that .. anyway I took it at night and my water broke the next morning .. no negative affects for my baby .. I had two bowel movements during labor (in the bathroom) but that was all and after baby was born there were no other side effects

My midwife refuses to induce me til I'm at least 41w+. Which if my lil one doesn't come by then that's fine, its all up to her. I wouldn't want to put her in danger so I did a lot of research and talked to my midwife before trying this. If it doesn't work and only makes me have a few bathroom trips oh well, I've been very constipated lately anyways.

I heard some bad things about it like diahhrea and throwing up so i dont think i will ever try it. Labor is going to be miserable in itself so id rather not feel like shiit before, during and after giving birth lol id rather just wait for the baby to come on its own and deal with all the discomfort that will come naturally

I've read that unless your body is ready it won't put you in labor. It only works as a final push to get things going. Idk we shall see, I've heard mixed reviews on its effectiveness and figured I wouldn't know unless I tried for myself.
