being induced?

So today I went to the doctor for my 39 week check up. They said that I am still only dialated at a 1 and that if next week I am not dialated anymore then we will have to talk about me being induced. That is my biggest fear, I do not want to be induced I want to have him the natural way. They said I'm allowed to go two weeks past my due date but their office will only let me go over one week. I feel like they are making up reasons for me to be induced rather than my body being able to work on its own. They said that they had to check me for toxemia which they just did two weeks ago and it was negative and when I brought that to their attention the doctor decided that I needed to have an ultrasound to see how big the baby was when I go in next week. It bums me out that I feel like I'm being forced to get induced. Anyone else feel this way?

@Kelz- thank you for telling me something positive because at this point everything I have heard is negative about being induced. My sister in law was induced and she was in labor for 46 hours! :/ but when they induced her she wasn't dialated at all. @Jessicaann- I hope that things work out for you so that you don't have to be induced!! I really wanna be able to do this naturally and I only wanna have him when he is ready to come! Good luck girl! :) @febmama- lol! My step mom is a nurse and she said that she can't stand it when doctors try to force moms to be induced when there is clearly no reason to induce them. I want my baby to come when he is ready and not when the doctor just says that he is. I have had a wonderful pregnancy and there is no reason why I should have to be induced but the doctor said that I am going to have to talk about it at my next appointment. :/ I feel like no matter what I say to this doctor she is gonna make me get induced. Thank you for the well wishes! :)

I love you.. that may sound weird, but knowing someone that doesn't want to rush bubs is almost unbelievable haha.. you can say no! I would it is true that you shouldnt go passed 42 weeks but when your not there yet and are being told to be induced while bubs is fine then I would get a second opinion. I'm sick of seeing women asking to be induced and doctors saying ok. Good luck mama

being induced is just as hard as letting labor start on it own but it is so much faster... they will start you on pitocin, then break your water and youll have contractions for a little while then you will start pushing and sometimes you will only be pushing for 10, 20 minutes mine was only 10 with both of mine i pushed 4 times and they was out

I'm in the same situation. I'm 38+3 and at a 1 for the past 2 weeks and she said if I'm not progressed by Wednesday we will have to set an induction date cause she doesn't want me to even go a week over and I'm really scared of being induced and want this to happen on its own.

they do that for yours and the babys safety bc if your are not dialating you will have to get a c-section, or be induced to get the cervix to thin out and to dialate more
