I'm overweight as well, but we found out the gender at 18 weeks 1 day. A boy! The only thing we didnt see clearly was the 4 chambers of the heart and his feet. That's cause he's gonna be tall though lol they didn't mention my weight affecting anything.. the placenta may get in the way though, you'll just have to wait until the baby gets bigger, if it happens to obscure the goods! Good luck
None of that will affect your scan love, you'll be just fine. You might not see the gender at 18 wks though.....if you do it may not be accurate. I got one at 18 wks but couldn't seeanything clearly. I'm going on Friday. I'll be 20+4 then
I cant wait to feel kicks!
sorry about the late reply.. @SoConfusedRightNow & ohhh yess I am. really hard kicks. its sooo precious though.
All those stories make me feel alot better :) are you feeling kicks yet anxious mommy???
I have a anterior placenta & my anatomy scan went fine.. they got everything they needed & they told me the sex was a GIRL. ;) she just said because I have a anterior placenta I would feel baby kicks earlier than normal. I'm now 23w1d
Im a bigger girl and they could see my babies fine:) besides the fact that it is a bit unfortable since they push so hard on me to see them
Wishing you the best of luck!
It depends on your ultrasound tech about the whole bladder thing. But I'm a big girl and I had no problems with ultrasounds, other than it being uncomfortable when they had to push real hard to see arteries and stuff like that. We couldn't get my baby's heart either so I ended up with like 16 ultrasounds all together just for that, but it's because she liked to hide behind my belly button lol nothing to do with my weight.
In my case they weight was deff an issue. They couldnt see her because of my belly. :-/
The weight isnt an issue the placenta and cord may get in the way
they actually make you empty your bladder after 11 or 12 weeks when they want you to do a sono
That is bacause I am a biggeeeeer girl lol... but everything is perfect so far!
Well, in my case it did affect the anatomy scan. They were able to see the bones and the brain of my princess, buuuuut she was playing hide n seek and they couldnt have a good look at her heart. I was like 21 weeks. Now I have another appointment in May 1 to do a Fetal Echocardiogram to see her heart. They had to do TransVaginal ultrasounds ultil I was 16 weeks because they couldnt get her heart beat. Hahaha. She is a playful one! :)
Just make sure you drink enough to push your womb out and you should be ok. It's usually the baby itself that stops them seeing gender :)
Thanks girls :) fingers crossed we can see!
I have an anterior placenta and it didn't effect the scan. Getting baby to cooperate was the hardest part :-)
The weight won't be an issue, but the anterior placenta could. I had my scan 3 weeks ago and couldn't get the gender because the placenta was in the way.
I've googled about having an anterior placenta and read alot about it affecting the quality.. I was worried the extra weight would make it worse lol
I'm on the bigger side too and it didn't effect anything. Could see everything clearly. But having an anterior placenta... Idk if they would effect anything.
