bleeding during my pregnancy

i have just been told a week ago that i was 4 weeks pregnant by my physician.. as of last night i started to bleed. this bleeding was like a normal period and i have been researching this for hours now and cant seem to find much of anything. is it normal if i have this period on top of being pregnant? also, on top of my physician telling me i was pregnant she also told me i had a severe urinary tract infection.. could the menstration period be more of bleeding because of the infection?

i called up my physician and the receptionist was a real jerk towards me and didnt seem concerned at all about this and i cannot get ahold of the doctor because of her.. can anyone help me out??

Hi,
hope everything is okay. Just wanted to let you know that my sis went thru this and she has a healthy baby. She continued to bleed for a long time. we only were told to worry if she is cramping and it's bright red blood.

Wishing you best of luck.

some women do have bleeding in early pregnancy, but if it's like your period and you're so early, you may be miscarrying, or you may have experienced what is called a chemical pregnancy (the egg and sperm meet but the blastocyst does not implant). Call your doctor again so they can run a blood test, and if they won't see you, you may want to go to a walk-in clinic and have them check you out to make sure everything's alright. Good luck, keep me posted.

the UTI most likely would not cause this sort of bleeding.
