blighted ovum?

Okay with our last pregnancy I just assumed we had a miscarriage...the OB had said what happened was the egg got fertilized but then stopped forming very early on.  She said probably around 3 weeks or earlier.  We didn't find out until 11 weeks at our first u/s.  I have been reading and from what I can tell we didn't have a regular miscarriage we had a Blighted Ovum.   I did some reasearch and found that most of these are caused by a chromasonal problem like a bad egg or weak sperm, and very rarely are caused because of of hormone levels like low progestrone.  I read that after experiancing one there is an 80-85% chance that your next pregnancy will be fine and carry to term.  I hope that is correct.  Has anyone else experianced this?  Has anyone heard anything about pregnancy risks or chances after one?

i just had a blighted ovum, and like you, there was something wrong from the begining. i got preg. in march and 10 dpo i started light bleeding for a day an dthen i spotted for 2 weeks. and it was after all that i started having symptoms so i tested and it was a bfp. then 4 weeks after my bfp i started bleeding and by that time my hcg had already dropped and i was just bleeding everything out. but since then my drs. have done a sono. and they said everything looks good. and i also have read up on it and the chances are rare to have two consecutive b.ovums. so i think this time around you should be ok.

I personally have not experienced this, but a close friend had a blighted ovum and then had a perfectly normal pregnancy and baby boy - he is now almost 3.

My first pregnancy was the same thing. I had late ovulation (CD 23) I know excactely because that month I had a lot of ultrasounds to follow the growth of the folicle. My AF was late (10 days) and I got very low level od bHCG (33). The pregnancy ended with missed abortion (with subchorionic haematoma and no heartbeat).
Every pregnancy is different and is not related with previous miscarr. The chances to have a succesfull pregnancy now are very good. It`s true that, 80% of causes for missed abortion are chromosomal abnormalities. Thats the way of nature to eliminate the abnormal zygotes.

that really sucks that he isnt there standing by your side.  Guys can be such jerks.  Dont worry sweetie you will meet someone who treats you much better and when the time is right you will have a beautiful baby together.  You're smart to be able to know that it wouldnt be a good idea to get pregnant by the exboyfriend again.  If he isn't going to stand by you when you lose a baby he sure wouldnt stick around with a baby crying all night and stinky diapers.  Just trust in God and he will provide when the time is right.  Best of luck sweetheart...

I think the part the hurts me the most right now is that my boyfriend left and I don't even have the posibility of getting pregnant right now.  I want to try again so badly but I know that would be a mistake with him.  After what he has put me through in the last 2 1/2 weeks.

Best of luck to you with this bundle of joy!  I will be praying that everything works out this time for you.

I took a hpt the day after I missed my period and it took all of 5 seconds to show a positive! I had every symptom except nausea.  I was so thankful for that.

well i got pregnant from having sex on my period with the last one...although i have no idea when i ovulated it took me a LONG time to get a BFP on a home test.  It took 5 weeks after we had sex which would have been something like 35 days after i would have ovulated....so i think it was bad from the beginning also.  This time I got a positive home test pretty early at 11 dpo so hopefully all will be well.  I am starting to feel very confident that everything will be just fine.   Just waiting for 30th for our u/s

My dr is calling what I had a blighted ovum. But being so I heard a heartbeat I don't know if it's true.  My Dr says that my risk of a m/c will go down to about 7% with the next pregnancy. Where with this one it was a 30% risk.  I honestly believe that it was a problem with the chromesones. (sp)  I know that I did not ovulate until 5 days after we had unprotected sex and thats along time for sperm to live.  I was a little shocked I was even pregnant! but extremely happy.
