blood test level was 16

My question is this.....I missed my period on Monday so I am 4 days late. Yesterday I took a HPT and it was positive with one line fainter. Then I went a got  a blood test that same day and it showed 16. The doctor does not want to say i am pregnant because she says that is a low number. She says it should be at least a 25. She wants to see me on Friday and retest to see if it goes up. I have all the signs of early pg. Tired, frequent urination, slight cramping like a period, swollen breasts...etc. Can anyone shed some light on this? Could I be pregnant? Or could it be something else?

Well you are pregnancy but I need to tell you that low hCG levels are common in ectopic pregnancies. Ectopic is where the embryo implants outside the uterus (like the tube)  I had that happen in july.  Get it checked!

if your hpt showed up as pos no matter how faint then at this stage your pregnant, very early, but pregnant. As for your blood result, the number is low, but they have to start somewhere and to me this is just showing how early you are. The numbers have  a wide range that is considered within the normal range and its really what they do that matters, they should double every 48/72 hrs and at the minimum they need to rise by 60% every 2 days for the pregnancy to be consedered viable.the next result you should want to be areond25 and higher
