How did your Drs appointment go? Were they able to help your little one out?
My daughter spit up hands full at a time and I had to take her off breastmilk all together she had to be on formula cause it was heavier than breastmilk. She had reflux so it helped her hold down more but good thing it never affected her weight or health.
Your own diet can cause it as well. It could be lactose intolerance, but in newborns this is very rare. My daughter and myself both have it and the signs can be very obvious. Try making a log of everything you eat, and go on a bland diet. Eliminate things like garlic, spicy foods, dairy, etc and slowly adds things back in - maybe once a week.
My daughter is 3 weeks old tomorrow. She does the exact same thing. It didnt matter breast milk or formula. As long as they are gaining weight the doctors don't seem to mind so much. Just makes it messy and a little worry some for us mommies. I have to give her infant gas relief drops every feeding, halfway through the bottle. She still spits up, but not nearly as much as she did before i gave them to her. You could try that and see if it helps. :D
Are you nursing or using formula? This happened with my son and it turned out he was lactose intolerant so i had to witch to a soy formula. After that he was a totally different kid. No puking, no gas, no more constipation. Might ne worth asking about. Good luck.
I want to say that it sounds pretty normal(but absolutely talk to your Dr about it at your next appointment or if it getsworse go sooner)... babies are gassy cause their digestive tract is really just getting going and burping should get easier as baby gets older... i know my daughter is really hard to burp and im okay with that...with my first i would try forever to burp and this one i try and if she doesnt burp then i dont worry... i do try to burp her often, even if i didnt just feed her(when she wakes up, or if im just holding her...and again and its hit and miss if she burps.... spitting up is common too... for my daughter i think if she eats too much too fast its worse, like if its in the AM/night when i have a lot of milk its a guarantee that she is gonna spit up( its not a lot but my first baby had launched it at me... like exorcist style lol but it wasnt often that much).... and yep hick ups are really common as well and are perfectly normal and should decrease in frequency in the next few weeks or so... they get them the same way they had them in the womb
These are the more common signs of acid reflux....needless to say your babe wouldnt be a very happy camper
Frequent spitting up or vomiting
• Irritability when feeding
• Refusing food or eating only small amounts
• Sudden or constant crying
• Arching the back while feeding
• "Wet" burps
• Frequent hiccups
• Frequent coughing
• Poor sleep habits with frequent waking
• Bad breath
She should be okay. My daughter had/has the same issue. Sometimes what happens is they gulp the milk so fast they get air bubbles which bring the milk back up if they don't burp. I have a hard time gettin my daughter to burp sometimes, and even when I do get a good burp out of her she still spits. Try to keep her upright and don't move her around much after feeding. Or take her off every 3-5 min to try burping her more frequently. Definitely mention is to your dr but I think next Monday should be fine. Her diapers are soiled/wet on a regular basis so she's getting enough nutrition.
My little niece was doing the samething and the doctor told her mom she had acid reflux...I think you should take her sooner and explain this to them
