breastfeeding Q&A
Hey mommas! Just wanted to get an idea on breastfeeding and expressing. Did any of you breastfeed/hoping to breastfeed? Did you express your milk? Which device did you use to express (electical or manual pump)? How did you find it? Advice much appreciated!
What i did for my milk to come in was,
Put a hot rag on my breast and massage the outside by my armpit till the rag was cooled off, then i hand expressed colostrum in a plastic container they gave me at the hospital i picked it up with a syringe and took it to the hospital nursery for them to give him.
I was only making colostrum 10ml per expression, for 3 days.
I pumped every 3 hours with a medela electric breast pump, even at night i set an Alarm BC milk supply is supply and demand, the more milk you demand the more you will make, so by day 4 i was making 70 ml per pumping.
I still pump between breast feedings and i make 10oz per pumping. Im making so much the nurses gave me a reference card to have it donated if i wanted to (since breast milk has properties that help save premature babies lifes)

I breastfed my daughter for 17 months. If you're gonna get a pump I recommend Electric. Manuals suck lol. Definitely get breast pads too! Until your body gets used to how much baby eats you're gonna leak!
I breastfed my first and plan on breastfeeding my second. It's a wonderful experience. I do recommend stopping before it's too late
I'm breast feeding. I don't like pumping I've tried I hardly get anything out. So I only breastfeed.
I did with both of my boys and planning on doing it with this baby. My oldest son turning 5 stopped wen he was 1 year and 2months and my second son now 3 stopped at 1 year and 11 months...i would pump but they never seemed to like the bottle i dnt kno y....lol
Thank you i will definitely have a look at medela :) and as soon as 18 weeks! Wow i didnt know it could happen that early! Best get some breast pads just in case ha
I dint nurse with my first but with my 2nd I do I only breastfeed but if I'm to engorged then I use my electric pump. You can find them at any store or online I personally like medela
