I would suggest pumping. It helped me. But for some, milk never comes in.
Soak your nipples in warm salty water. I did this when I was relactating as I was pumping every two hours and mine were bleeding. It felt good and healed them faster.
I used lasinoh nipple cream and if she is latched properly it shouldnt be too painful even with the scabs. Also drink a beer, it helps to bring your milk in. I was always engorged after having a beer when my milk did come in and I had to drink one with my first cuz my milk took like 5 days to come in. Good luck keep it up!
My cuzin had that problem .. The doctors told her to pump milk in between feedings & feed that to the baby even if it had small amounts of blood in it ( her nipples had become raw & began to bleed ) .. Good luck
Talk to a LC and see if the positioning is correct. The drawback of supplementing is you deduce your supply - breastfeeding is about supply and demand, less demand less supply. Nipple shields can help but I've heard they can be difficult to get baby off of. (I never used them myself)
I used the purple tube of Lanolin. Its by the baby food. And make sure she is latching on properly. That could be a big part of it.
Nipple sheild helps wonders with the pain all baby stores have them. gor mine at babies r us for like $10. It could be shes not getting on right trying talking to a bf consultant
I broke down and gave her a bottle last night and I don't wanna do that again. She spit up a little and was really gassy and fussy. She drank it fast I'm just scared cuz she was only 6lbs 1oz and was 5lbs 8oz when we left the hospital. I was scared shes not getting enough
The same thing happened with me when I had my 1st and the one thing that I found helped was a nipple shield, they have them in all different sizes and they are wonderful they made it so much easier and my nipples actually got to heal.
I think you can buy them now at different pharmacy's but if you can't I got mine from the hospital.
I really recommend getting one.
Hope this helps.
Congrats and Good Luck :)
Try going topless when you can, and if you can get any of the BM out rub it on your nipples. Make sure you're holding baby properly as well, it can cause a lot of pain. Your milk will come in soon, and baby is fine on just the colostrum.
