My ins just asked if I was planning on breast feeding and I said yes and there the ones that told me...so def call and ask to see if they will cover it or even some of the money to rent...if ur planning on only doing that then look into a nice one to last you...renting I heard is nice but you think about it even if its 50 a month times that by 12 you will be spending more then buying one...so def check into that
See if your doctor will write you a prescription for the pump and have it sent to care centrix. Your plan may or may not cover one, but all they will do is deny it or let you know if you have a copay. Like I said, I called a nicu social worker and she called around until she finally just had it turned in as a prescription. I got it two days after Care Centrix called to let me know they had found a supplier in network and it was being shipped. I didn't get to pick the pump, but I've heard good things about the Ameda.
Definitely check Wal-Mart. I got a battery/electric one for 40 n its perfect
Thanks Nicole for the information I also have Cigna insurance so I am going to check into.seeing if I can get one like that because I want to only breastfeed
If you're exclusively pumping, you need a Medela, ameda, or hospital grade pump. If you're pumping just to increase supply or have a bottle or two while out on occasion, it really doesn't matter.
You can rent a hospital grade pump anywhere from $55-85 a month.
My insurance (Cigna) just bought me a new pump. I got the ameda purely yours for free. Not all insurances will provide you with a pump. I had my sons nicu social worker have a dr write the prescription for it and turn it over to insurance. Care centrex was who coordinated getting it shipped out.
I also got mine from walmart for 40 dollars it worked fine.
Oooh i totally want my ins to pay for mine if thats the case, i had never heard about that before. . (:
I bought my first one from walmart for around $30, I don't remember the brand since it was 8 years ago lol. It lasted me through both my kids who were strictly breast milk for over a year each. The medela ones are really nice but it really isn't necessary to spend that much.
That's the one I'm getting bc it will with stand travel etc...also check the hosp u can rent one through also check ur health ins they might pay for one as well...my ins is paying for mine I just had to tell them which one I wanted
