A regular diet should be 1500 calories per day. You will need to add about 500 calories on your first trimester.
Hello there!
Your caloric intake should be based on your B.M.I. (body mass index) and your doctor can help you figure out where you should be! As far as your food/calorie intake - as long as you don't begin your pregnancy either underweight or overweight, then taking in 1,900 -2,500 calories a day is appropriate - 300 extra calories per day for a mother carrying a single child - the amount would be higher if you were carrying a multiple pregnancy.
Take care!
I believe it's an extra 300-500 per day. My dr didn't want me eating anymore than 1500 a day, and don't take that as where you should be. Average out the number of calories you eat a day and add the extra.
