I am in the medical field and this is my 6th pregnancy and all children were born over 8lbs and healthy. She asked a question and I answered. You just don't like that I have her the advise she asked for instead of saying just Tylenol or ask your Dr. Also by the way to the person who said that a Dr will know what dose to give you with how far along you are in pregnancy the dose will not change they go by the dose for an adult woman. There is risk with every medication you take while pregnant and nothing is entirely safe. If this woman is going to take medication that is strong for pain I want to make sure she knows what is safe for pregnant women. By safe I mean something a Dr will prescribe to a pregnant woman. If she goes to a Dr for real pain then they will give her what is safe. If she is taking it on her own she will take stuff anyway and not giving her advise on what a Dr would prescribe is putting the baby at risk because she would have no idea what to take and may take something she should not. The advise I gave her was sound.

My cousin's newborn baby boy was prescribed methadone because he was going through withdrawals when she delivered him. Not sure what she was on, she still claims like it was from her doctor giving her medicine with codeine in it, but our whole family knows that's a lie. But we were thinking she was doing meth while pregnant. Sad sad thing. Don't know why people would put their precious babies that they created at risk just to get that high. I'll never understand.

From what I'm told pregnant women are not prescribed this unless addicted to some other more powerful drug. I also have been told by a woman who was extremely addicted to these even though she slacked off using them during her pregnancy her child has ADHD ADD learning disabilities. No one can say for sure if its from the pills tho

It is a risk vs benefit thing. Your anecdotal evidence does not mean something is "safe" this is something to be discussed with her and her and her doctor. There are multiple possible side effects with taking pain relievers during pregnancy .

I had surgery a couple of days ago and they gave me morphine, 21wks pregnant. The great thing about having a dr prescribe it or a hospital administering strong pain meds is that they know the correct amounts and at how many weeks gestation things are safe. They also look at your situation and way up the risks and benefits and put their career on their decisions. If you are in so much pain you think tylenol isn't going to cut it for you, o wouldn't take any chances and would discuss it with your dr.

You can take lortab and Percocet during pregnancy and it is safe. I was prescribed both. I was also given diladid pills.. and if you go to the hospital in severe pain they can give iv diladid and morphine because I was given all of those while pregnant with no side effects.

Also if you have some kind of condition or injury causing pain severe enough to need lortab or something of the sort like I said work with your doctor. They will help keep the baby safe if for some reason you need considerable pain management.

Tylenol is really the only safe thing, and I'm personally iffy about that. I'm not saying you do, but if you have a problem with prescription drugs or other drugs talk to your doctor and see what he/she can do to help. If you or your baby tests positive for them and you never told anyone you had a problem you will have a nightmare with cps.

methadone is to wein someone off of herion or other addictive drugs . if your got pregnant while on methadone , your doctor will keep You on it but lower your dosage so you don't miscarry .

My ex co worker was prescribed methadone during pregnancy only because she was addicted to heroin and baby was born with severe withdrawal symptoms. Its really sad to see.

I think the better question would be why the doctor would put you on such heavy drugs in the first place, then discuss that with your doctor, I'm on a category d pregnancy med, but I can't get off it, however my doctor knows.

You wont be perscribed methadone unless your coming off meth or heroine.
It is a very risky drug to take but its better then being on meth & pregnant.

Lortabs are only prescribed if you need it. Its not a "ouch im in pain so ill take hydros" its  only used to be if you cant handle the pain.

Tylenol is safe OTC

No. Methadones only use during pregnancy is to bring you down and eventually off Meth, it's not used for pain. TYLENOL is the only over the counter pain meds you should be taking in the first trimester...
