It does vary greatly from woman to woman. With my last one I had my membranes stripped 10 days before due date as I was again showing signs of pre-eclampsia and wanted to move things along. I was only a 2 and baby was -3 when this was done so she said she couldn't do much. I went to the store after the appointment and then my husband, son and I went for a walk. Within minutes I literally felt like the baby was going to drop out of me. I had some contractions but they stopped and I assumed it was just braxton hicks. The next day I had an u/s and the OB checked me just for the heck of it I think....the baby was at 0 station and I was dilated to 6cm and not even in labor yet. He stripped membranes again and I was in labor within 2 hours and had the baby 6 hours later! So that was WAY more info then you needed but good birth stories are always encouraging close to labor yes? :-) Bottom line I did notice a TON with my second child when he dropped 1 day prior to birth. With son #1 he dropped about a 1 1/2 weeks before labor was induced. Hopefully you will have a great birth experience! Good Luck!
I could not feel it when Julian dropped but I could very well tell, but I thought it happened around 35 weeks when it actually happend when I was on the pitocen with my induction the day before he was born!
Well, my first dropped exactly 3 weeks before I had her. My son, was sitting litteraly on my cervix from 3 months on, so he never had to drop! He head was in my pelvis the entire time! This girlie now, has already dropped 2 inches, but that could be just cause I had surgery a week and a half ago. Who knows. Every one is different.
You will be able to tell when your over 30 weeks though, you'll be able to breathe easier, and your pants wont sit where they used to
I think that everyone is different...I asked my midwife about that at my last appt. (I'm 39 weeks, 4 days today) and she said that some don't drop until just hours before you deliver......whereas some babies drop weeks before labor starts......I haven't dropped at all! I did lose my plug today though! Yahoo!.......Maybe something soon! :o)
im 36 weeks right now and everyone I work with keeps saying they can really tell the baby has dropped, i guess I just feel more pressure down low these days so maybe she has. I go to the doc tomorrow so i guess ill see what he says
Oh and what I was trying to say with my story is that I didn't drop because she was facing the wrong way so when they did the version it caused her to go down. I'm not even sure I would of had her two days early if it wasn't for the fact that I got into a car accident (freon tank blew up under my car on the highway) the day after the version and then my water broke the next day.
I didn't really notice it but looking back at pictures I dropped at the beginning of my 9th month so I didn't go into labor for about 3 weeks.
You can drop and not give birth for months and end up even being late. I'm just explaining how to tell if the baby is up or down.
I am not sure about the drop thing but according to these ladies it get heavier and lower like it's pointing down? I am only 27weeks and my tummy feels that way ... am getting scared. shall I stay home and bed rest?
My baby dropped a few weeks ago and he just keeps getting lower, i never really noticed it though. Im still pregnant...only 6 more days to go but it just depends every one is different so who knows when you would go into labor.
Aspen didn't drop until 2 days before I had her and even then she only dropped because I had a version to turn her out of the breech position. Once she was turned she automatically dropped... my stomach felt lower and a lot heavier then it previously had. It looked like instead of pointing out it was pointing down.
