freaking out

I went today for my pelvic and pap smear exam. The doctor said it feels like I'm only 8-10 weeks and I thought I was 12+6. He couldn't hear the heart beat with the Doppler and said not to be worried but he scheduled me a ultrasound for Tuesday. I'm freaking out terribly and just hope my baby is okay! Has this ever happened to anyone?

Yes... I Thought I Was 12 Weeks And Ended Up Being 7 And At That Point They Can't Hear Baby On The Doppler So Don't Worry I'm Sure Everything Is Fine.

My midwife tried to find mine at 15 weeks and couldn't although a scan found it fine. With my 1st baby i had a scare at 18 weeks baby was just hiding low in the pelvis. In UK midwifes will rarely try to listen in until at least 16 weeks or If you ask them to earlier they may do it after explaining that chances are it will be to early so not to panic if that's the case. Don't worry I'm sure your scan will go great :)

You could be a late ovulator and that is why you are behind.

My husband acts so calm and I'm the one worrying I guess its a motherly thing. Its strange that the doctor says I feel like I'm only 8-10 weeks along when I thought I was starting my 2nd trimester tomorrow. Im going to try not to stress and trust in the one above. Prayers would be much appreciated although I'm sure everything is fine. Thanks ladies!

I am 23weeks and 4days I have heard baby's heartbeat on ultrasound but here in the UK the midwives won't try listening for the heartbeat until about 20-26 weeks for the reason your explaining. They say that if they can't hear it mums to be start to worry and panic but because baby is still so small they have plenty of space to move around.

I wouldn't worry too much, my doctor had trouble finding the heartbeat with the Doppler at 12 weeks. She said that sometimes the baby will hide. Worrying will just stress you and baby out. I'm sure baby is fine. And ultrasounds are the best, you will love seeing your baby! I have a countdown to when I get my next one!!! Best of luck! :)
