cold sandwhiches??

Hi ladies, im 6 weeks pregnant and had my first appointment last week. The doctor told me not to eat subway or deli meats unless i cook them till steaming. I assume she meant all cold lunch meats by deli meats? I've really been craving a cold turkey sandwhich has your doctor told you differently because everyone i know has ate sandwiches during their pregnancy? Thank you

16 weeks 6 days here,. I've been eating subway since early early pregnancy and I'm fine.  Try to toast your sandwich if it's from a shop or micro,  pan the deli meat before you eat it!

Also, wasnt done...lol the likelihood of getting listeria in ur meat is very low. The federal government has taken extra precautions to prevent it by making sure cold cuts are sprayed with a food additive that helps prevent listeria before food packaging. So yes its a potential "risk" but very rare.

I have 3 babies all are perfectly healthy and ive eaten cold deli meats with all 3. Some docs will say no some say yes. My doc is oldschool and says its fine. If u are to worried heat it up, but me personally just gobble it down cold on my subs lol

Some people are fine but there are cases where it has caused harm. If you're craving deli meat it's healthier to roast a turkey breast or if roast beef a round of beef and slice it thin. Also it's cheaper.

I've seen people on here say that a lot! And like @oxlexiox I've eaten ham and deli meats all the way through, I spoke to my midwife and she said they're safe to eat..

Your not supposed to eat cold meat (deli meat) in your first trimester because it carries a bacgeria called Listeria and is deadly to the baby and can make u sick while pregnant but the most worrisome is in the first trimester after that it's ok it's just the baby is very vulnerable in the first trimester

My OB told me without me even asking, don't worry about what everyone says about eating lunchmeat. Personally I (most of the time) put all the lunch meat I ate in the microwave untill it was steaming hot anyways. Just incase. But I have also eaten deli meats without heating them up first. I say if you are going to worry about it, if you do eat some, then you should throw the meat in the microwave or have it toasted at subway before eating it. Just to give you that peace of mind! A couple times at subway I asked if they would toast it for twice as long and they normally do, just to be safe.

My OB told me all you have to do is heat the lunch meat in the microwave for 45 sec and you can throw them back in the fridge to eat them cold later and it's safe
