conception/ultrasound

Okay, I'm supposedly 22+1 today.

When I went for my first ultrasound, I had to guess my lmp because my son was 6 months and I was working so the dates were hazy. I guessed around July 27, but told him I wasn't sure and could be a week off either direction.

He set my due date by my lmp estimate, but when he did my ultrasound, my daughter measured 9+5 and he kept me at 10+5 and didn't change my due date.

I've gotten 2 ultrasounds since then and he NEVER takes measurements.

Is my doctor a quack? Cause it seems to me that he's a bit off in the way he does things.

Idk, if I had just a doula or midwife, I'd expect a bit less science in the process, but even they check urine.

He's a doctor!! I didn't want to doubt him, but I have sciatica from my last pregnancy and back pain from my epidural. I don't want drugs, but I have a 10 month old son and I'm a stay at home mom. Something a tiny bit stronger than extra strength tylenol would be nice.

The reason that rubs me wrong is because my cousin went to him during her pregnancy. She was addicted to pain meds and he started her on prescription narcotics!!! THEN METHADONE!!! That's not on for a pregnant woman!!!

Plus he refuses to help me quit smoking. Said patches are as dangerous as smoking and if I ant o quit, to do it myself. Um... isn't SMOKE IN YOUR LUNGS more harmful than slowly weanind JUST nicotine???

I'm strongly considering switching.

No, he has the ultrasound on a flat screen in front if me and I have 1 bby already so I know measurements. He checks the heartbeat and snaps a few picks. For my gender scan, no exaggeration, he did a 2 minute ultrasound at 14+5.

I would definitely expect MORE of a pressure put on your urine samples since you had pre eclampsia before, have you thought about switching at all?

That's what I was thinking. I was induced with my son because I had high blood pressure and early signs of pre eclampsia. I thought he'd be more.. idk, caring?

He hasn't said anything about my weight, either. I've only gained 1 pound.

He should most definitely be testing your urine every time, definitely, AND doing measurements, are you sure he doesn't do it and just not telling you? I wouldn't be comfortable with that at all!
