concerned about the ultrasound

i went for my first scan 2 days ago where i found out i was 6 weeks and 4 days. the docter never told me the rate of the heartbeat but did show me on the screen. 'my baby' measured 8mm at this stage is that normal? because ev everyone im speaking to says it is far too big and should be around 5mm.

Also this is my first baby so i dont know much about what to expect and what stage but in the scan the baby is no longer a 'fetal pole' and the scan actually has printed on it 'fetal growth' so can someone tell me what that means.it may sound stupid but in the scan it is clearly visable to see the babys head,arms and legs and i havnt seen a scan that looks like this is my stage.
maybe im getting the picture wrong or its an early development i dont know someone please help im really worried :( x
