Concerned and confused

Hi everyone,

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to this post as I am very concerned about what is going on with my body. I was on the pill Gynera for 2 years on and off( I did this so as to give my body a break), I stopped taking the last pill 18 days ago and as yet my period has yet to show up, in these 18 days, i have had an increase in appetite, which has obviously led to weight gain, mood swings (primarily depression), severe headached, one lasted 9 days mild aversion to some foods, but the most telling symptom (I think) is my breasts, whilst they are not painful and haven't increased in size, they have changed shape, my nipples are very painful to touch, the aerola has enlarged and is puffy, and blue veins are far more prominent around the nipple area. The catch is that I have done 3 HPT's over the last week and all came up BFN. Most of my family have gotten pregnant on contraceptives, I have also, but that pregnancy showed up BFP on hpt at 5 weeks. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks alot,

Melissa

Thanks for your replies, I didn't intend to come off the pill permanently, I finished my packet and was waiting for my period to arrive, when it went AWOL. The reason i suspect pregnancy is because, apart from the above mentioned symptoms, my period usually arrived within a day of me taking my last pill, it always seems to be fighting the effects of the pill, if I ever forgot to take it, even by a few hours, my period would start.

Thanks for your insight tho.

Wait a week and then test again or ask your doctor for blood tests.

I fell pregnant on the pill and didnt know until i was almost 2 months pregant.

I had no symptoms apart from very very very sore nipples and more veins.

Well, when were you due to get your period?  In those last 18 days?  Sometimes coming off of the pill can do weird things to your body...make you have pms symptoms which are also very close to pregnancy symptoms.  After getting off of birth control it can take a year to get regulated again so it could all have to do with your body getting used to the on again off again pill taking OR there is always a chance that you could be pregnant.  If you truly think you are then maybe you should call your doctor and get a quantitative blood test for pregnancy hormones.  Hope this helps...
