contractions but I can't feel them?

I went to L&D to get monitored because my blood pressure was through the roof (159/75) and got put on a fetal monitor for about four hours. The nurse came into my room and looked at me and said "can you feel that?!" I had no idea what she was talking about, she told me I'd been having full blown contractions. I had 9 of them and didn't feel anything! I don't get it? I thought they were supposed to hurt? I'm still here at L&D the nurse went on break but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this? It makes me worried I won't know when I'm in labor.

Do a quick Google search. Basically it's like pre eclampsia.  I had it and had to have an emergency c-section.  High bp is a symptom along with other things

Someone just came in and took my blood they said they're doing tests and my results will be back in about an hour. Maybe that's something they're testing for. What's that though?

I was that way with my first. Wasn't until my water broke and they induced that I could actually feel them. They aren't painful until baby's head engages.

Not all women feel them until they're in full blown labor, and some don't feel them until they're at like 6cm you might be a lucky one.

It was so weird because I asked her if they were Braxton hicks and she said no they were for real but I'm not dilated or effaced
