contractions??

I'm 34 weeks. Just wondering what contractions feel like...

It just feels like your belly gets really hard and its slightly painful. With me, my chest gets tight and my heart speeds up before i contract. Im only 25 weeks and im on bedrest cuz i keep having contractions and im 50% effaced and my cervix is shortened. But i also get the back lavor too...it all just ***** but itll be worth it:) lol

I have no idea what a contraction feels like (this is my first pregnancy), but I'm really glad you posted this question!!! I always heard that when you have one, whether you have had one or not, you will know it. I'm 33 weeks, and I think I have felt braxton hicks, but I'm not sure.

LOL kassie!! That was too funny!
I had back labour so for me my lower back would tighten up first and then it would wrap around my belly and get rock hard and then loosen up again till the next one.
I hear people mention that it feels like period pains but honestly- I didn't get that at all!
Maybe my labour was easy on me? I'm not sure but all I remember is the tightening- I don't remember feeling the pressure of my baby or anything either and I didn't have one stitch of drugs the whole time.

Everyone is different but you can have the braxton hicks contractions before the real ones.  If you think you are having them then call your doc because you would still be considered preterm.  Otherwise anytime after 37 weeks you are good to go.

Contractions start off like period cramps, then they feel as if you are holding in a huge fart, then they feel like your ******** a knife and finally they feel as if your pelvis is going to explode any second sending bone shrapnal shooting thought your body and into any unsuspecting bystanders. For me it started with period like pain and built up from there to tightenings which took my breath away a bit accompanied by my belly getting hard and that built into painful tightenings. I was very lucky and delivered my baby almost exactly 4hrs after the period like pain started!!

I got a stinging cramping sensation in my vaginal area at first.  Then my belly gradually got rock hard from the bottom to the top.  Then it gradually got soft again from top to bottom, ending with more stinging down there.  Not painful at all, jist annoying and caught me off guard the first few times.  Began calling them coochy catches cuz the first few felt like someone was coming out if i didnt cross my legs and grab wity my hands.  Lol
