contractions

What do they feel like again? It's been so long since my last pregnancy and I never had them until a week before labor with my son. I'm 27 weeks and my lower back is in a lot of pain and I have some pretty severe discomfort and pain all over my lower belly and upper. Kind of  hard to describe really. My doctor's arent the greatest to communicate with. I know Braxton hicks are common is this them? Thanks

Hey girly I just read If you have more than for an hour you should  call your doctor and go to labor and delivery.

Oh and they feel like your stomach gets hard. The strength of the contraction can be  me measured by feeling the tip of your nose which is mild, then your chin which moderate, then your forehead which is severe. Mine varies in stiffness been the 3 but they mostly  resemble my chin. I forgot to say another cause of them is being over heated so stay cool. If you live in the desert like I do with out ac that is definitely easier said then done. I live in front of a fan lol

Time them if they are four minutes apart go to labor and delivery and they will stop them. That s what I had to do at 28 weeks. I still get them but not as frequently. The best thing to do that really helps me stop them is chug the water and lay down on your left side and breath. One thing that causes them besides lack of water is having to pee so go pee every hour even if you don't feel the urge.  But if you drink that water you will have too' lol I swear up and down I'm drinking enough water but I'm thinking my body just needs a little more than normal.

Im in your boat too. 28 weeks with terrible back pain and cramps on and off. I told my doc about it and she checked me. Said my cervix was closed and fine and that it was prob a combo of braxton hicks and the babys position. Told me it's fine unless i have more than 8 a day. Hope this helps.
