coughing? ??

If you have a really bad cough Can it hurt your baby at all? I have had a really bad cough for the past three days and it is starting to hurt my chest. ..I went to the pharmacy to see if i could get something to help and the pharmacist told me all I could take was mucinex..... and it just made it worse... I can feel my stomach and my sides strain when i cough so i just wanted to make sure it can't hurt my baby. ..... I'm almost 23 weeks. ...my ob is closed because most places and me don'thave any power because of the weather so i can't call them. ....

Anyone know or have any ideas to get rid of this cough?

You can also take robitussin dm, and cough drops. I got sick for awhile while I was preggo, and I drank lots of hot tea with a little bit of honey in it, while taking the musinex and robitussin. Also a humidifier might help as well. If it gets worse, then call your obs office and get directed to the on call dr if their closed. They should be able to call you something in. We had a bad ice storm while I was sick, and I was able to do that and get some meds.
