cystic fibrosis test?

Is there a cystic fibrosis test for baby while you're pregnant? I am 16w and had a dream that my doctor told me baby had it. It's weird cuz I'd never heard of that disease before my dream. I feel calm about it, but I just want to know if my dream is true or not!

Yes, but please do not worry to much. You have heard that name somewhere you just don't remember! Trust me vivid weird dreams are extremely common in pregnancy, they show no truth! If you are concerned though, talk to your OBGYN. I really think everything is going to be just fine though (:

You may want to read up or ask about the risks for further testing past the blood testing. I hear it can cause miscarriage. Just make sure you're educated about the test before you day yes to it. :) but that's just my opinion.

There is a test and can be done between 16-20 weeks just check with your insurance because my doctor told me that some insurance companies don't cover it

Yep but it's optional. I can't remember at what week they did it but it was quite awhile ago. I want to say before 18 weeks? Maybe ask your ob at your next appt. And don't worry too much.. I had dreams when I was pregnant with my first that she had spina bifida.. even after I had the test that said she didn't lol.

They will do a blood test to do a panel of all genetic diseases. CF included. If it comes back that you're a carrier they will test the fathers blood to see if he's a carrier.
