darkness of test line

Hiya does anyone know on average when a 20 miu pregnancy test that shows positive should be as dark as  the control line? I'm talking dpo.  I'm currently 16 dpo and my test line isn't as dark As control line x x

Perhaps if you want to test, get dollar store tests or online pregnancy tests so the money isn't wasted too much.

Just remember, even if they get darker it DOES NOT mean the pregnancy is viable. It just means the hormone is being detected. I know this doesn't help, but miscarriage is extremely common. At least 1 in 5 women experience one, and almost every female will have one in their lifetime whether they realize it or not. I've had one full term pregnancy and this past year had a miscarriage. Many women will go on to have healthy pregnancies after.

Thanks guys. I'm going to buy more regular tests tomorrow as they had been getting darker but I ran out a couple of days ago. Thankyou for taking the time to reply. I'm really worried as I had a chemical pregnancy earlier this year and am really worried it will happen again x

No, because conception would only have happened 1-2 weeks ago.

Seeing as I'm 4 weeks 3 days do u not think it should be reading conceived 2-3 rather that 1-2 ?

I personally don't understand how those work. Pregnancy is dated weird though. It's dated from LMP because doctors don't know when a female ovulates and all that fun stuff. For example, when you're 6 weeks pregnant the fetus is only 4 weeks. Conception happens when the sperm and egg meet, so yes it does make sense why it says that.

I took another digital today and its still saying I conceived 1-2 weeks ago, I'm currently 4 weeks 3 days. Should it not be reading 2-3 by now. Any advice really appreciated x

If you get even a faint line then your chances of being pregnant are in the 90th percentile. Pregnancy tests tend to vary like the gal above said. It has to do with dye and how high your hormone level is. If you have a test that reads 25mlu ( pretty standard) and your hormone level is at 97mlu, then it will turn positive right sooner rather than later, but the lines color really doesn't matter. Some tests show up darker than others. If you are using them to make sure your hormone level is not dropping it is not very accurate at all. Considering that pregnancy tests usually test positive the day of a woman's missed period ( that's because hormone levels are high enough for the average test to pick up on) and the hormone level doubles every day untill week 16 of pregnancy  when they slowly start to drop back down. So even If your levels dropped it would still show up for a couple weeks on a test. Even after miscarriages women still have positive pregnancy tests.

I mean, if you want you can keep buying tests. Honestly though you would just be wasting money. The best tests on the market are First Response and Clear Blue. Your doctors should be able to do this test though, as it's not just for piece of mind. It's vital in telling what your hCG levels do as it tells if a pregnancy is viable or not.

I live in UK and unfortunatly my doctors aren't very good and wouldn't do that kind of test just to put my mind at rest

It does happen, but they're not made or meant to be used that way. I know many women who've wasted hundreds of dollars doing this on pregnancy tests and there's no reason to. I think I remember someone saying once you would do better to pee on the bill itself and then just flush it, because that's pretty much all you're doing. It would be better spent to see a doctor and have a beta hCG blood test done to see what they do.

Oh really my pregnancy tests got lighter a day or 2 before my bleeding started with cp so assumed it was because hcg was dropping.  I have also read lots of times on forums about hpt's getting darker as days go by with ur pregnancy

Pregnancy tests are not made to get darker as the hCG rises so I wouldn't bother wasting the money. They look for hormone, not how much is there. How dark the line is depends on the concentration of your urine, and the amount of dye in the test.

Thanks for reply.  Do you know which brand I should get which may get darker dep3bring on hcg level? I'm just worried because I had cp earlier this year and although my lines are already darker than that pregnancy I 2ant to rest assured that my hcg levels are rising. If that makes sense :) x
