dialating? or just soft cervix TMI warning 17w6d

I wonder, I've had little stretching pains all day, also feel like theres bad pressure on my lower stomach/pelvis, so I checked myself to see how my cervix feels. It's VERY soft, and I can literally put my finger into the little space in the middle, not far but definitely fit it there. Does this mean I'm dialating? or just that my cervix is really soft and I'm able to push my finger on it like a pillow?

I really hope i'm not, but was curious. I know what dialating is supposed to be, but never experienced this myself.
And I'm supposed to go to the doctors tomorrow morning. even with the bad news i just found out, I want to keep this baby and look forward to having him in my life.

I wash my hands. lol, and I am able to reach but have to be sitting down, I def. know it's my cervix, however today I'm not worried as much. I don't have any more stretching pains, and am thinking I just had a soft cervix. is all. however I'm now high risk and they're gonna keep an eye on me 2X week starting at 29w to be sure the baby isn't stressed.

I can't even imagine trying to feel my own....I'm too scared I'd do something wrong or like bc13 said, infection.....Your nails carry LOTS of germs......I think it would freak me out if I did actually feel a body part......

I work as an RN in L&D and have felt MANY a cervix. At 17 weeks it is a little concerning that your cervix is soft and so easy for you to reach yourself. I would not advise anyone to check themselves especially early in your pregnancy. A vag exam can cause contractions to pick up and increase your risk of infection and bleeding. I would definatly mention this to your doctor since he may not check you this early in your pregnancy anyway. Your cervix may be just soft but if you can get your finger ALL the way through (to feel your water bag or baby part) they you are truely dilated, You cervix may just be "tunneling" if you can't. If your cervix is still thick you may be okay for a while. If you have any other symptoms, (more then 4 contractions in an hour, vaginal bleeding or unusual pain) call your doc.

Ok, when they checked my cervix when I went to L & D a few weeks back, the RN had to push way up in there to feel my cervix. A lot of pressure...Even when my OB checks me it seems out of reach if I was to try. I didn't think it was easily accessable to us to check ourselves. Especially coming from the direction our arms are coming from. I might be wrong, but is it possible it's the walls of your vagina your feeling? Or maybe mine is just way up there..lol......I dunno.

I know your cervis is supposed to be hard and closed but ive checked mine and it also is soft and i can feel the little hole (sorta like a polo lol)

I have stretching pains all the time and often get shooting pains in my cervix but my midwife says this is all normal.

Sorry to hear about your amnio results but as soon as you see your baby you will be the proudest happeiest mum in the world and those results wont mean a thing.
