don't think i'm gaining enough weight....

I am 14 weeks pregnant and I have only gained 2 pounds.....I think I should be gaining more than that by now and I'm afraid that it's going to affect the baby in a bad way.....will it?

That sounds fine to me.  I remember at 12 weeks reading something that said "by now you may have gained about a pound" and being very discouraged because I had gained 13!!!  So, 2 pounds seems perfect for fourteen weeks based on that book.

Trust me, as someone who gained 70 pounds with her last pregnancy.  As long as the doctor is not concerned, be happy if you're not gaining a lot of weight.  It's murder to get back off!!

Some women gain a lot of weight and fast! Others gain slowly or not very much at all. Did you have bad morning sickness? That can affect your rate of weight-gain. Don't read too much into it. If your doc becomes concerned you'll know! Usually they just tell you to tack on another small meal each day or protein shakes.

As of my 16 weeks appointment I had gained a total of 7 pounds (since finding out pregnant).  I thought that was too much, but the doctor told me that next time I come in I could have eaten the same foods and not gained any weight.  Or you could change what you eat and gain a bunch of weight.  He also said that after the first trimester they recommend gaining 1/2 pound a week.  So techincally you could be considered on track, especially since a lot of women lose weight during their first trimester due to morning sickness.  If you are concerned talk with your doctor, but give it time and I'm sure you will put more weight on.

You are probably fine..

Every woman and every pregnancy is different. It is actually not uncommon for a woman to lose weight her first trimester b/c many of us are sick all the time. If you are really concerned, run it by your Dr., but I am pretty sure you have nothing to worry about!

Good luck and keep us posted.

When I first found out I was pregnant, I started keeping track of my weight gain/loss.  At 4 weeks, I weighed 205.6 lbs.  At 14 weeks, I weighed 206.4 lbs.  I fluctuated a lot between 4 and 14 weeks tho ...my highest being 210.  But with morning sickness and not liking food ...I didn't eat a lot that would make me gain weight.  But it's perfectly fine not to have a huge weight gain in the first trimester.  If it worries you tho, you can talk to your doctor about it and see what s/he says.

I'm now 24 weeks and weigh 219.2 lbs.  So in 20 weeks I've gained almost 14 lbs.  Trust me, when you start gaining 1 or more lbs a week, you'll wish you'd only gained 2 lbs since getting pregnant!  lol  =D

Good luck to you, and try not to worry too much about the slow first trimester weight gain!!
