driving myself crazy

I was on b/c for 8yrs with no periods and now we want another baby.  I stopped my b/c and waited 8 wks before I had a period and it lasted 5 days.  I spoke to my doc about wanting to get prego and he said in 4 wks he would give provera to induce the next period. The doc gave me a preg test which was negative so I took provera for 10 days and started the next period 3 days after finishing the pills, which was Oct 31, but  I only bled for 2 days and it was pretty light.  I'm trying to decide whether I could have ovulated or not and what my chances of becoming prego are.  All women know that once you decide to become prego it's very frustrating because you want it to happen now.  Please help!  I'm driving myself insane!

I think you should just giveit time and enjoy trying. Try not to worry about it and it'll happen on its own.

the ladies are right and it totally depends on your body....i conceived while on BC at one point, miscarried, went back on it. I stopped taking it again and 10 days later conceived, so it just depends..my sister-in-law took almost a year to conceive after she stopped taking it, but it also took her 6 months to conceive her second baby and she didn't take BC before that....did you take BC before conceiving your first baby? that can SOMETIMES give an indication of how long it'll take, but a lot of women conceive their first right away and then have a time lapse before conceiving again....Good luck <3 and like you said, patience is totally a virtue. A virtue that often escapes me...but oh well who's perfect? hehe

I too conceived shortly after getting off BC after years of being on it. I have heard though that some cycles are not regular after getting off of it - hence the having to be patient and wait. It takes the average women anywhere bewteen 1-8 months to get preg. Seems like those who don't try succeed quicker :)

I personally didn't have a problem with fertility upon coming off of the pill - I conceived DS within the first 3 cycles off of it (and we weren't even trying to get pregnant).  I was on it for 4-5 years.

As tobbeyj said, I think you need to just wait it out.  Did you just come off of your BC recently?

thank you for your comment.  It sure is hard waiting but my mother always said patience was a virtue lol.

I am not famiar with provera - but I know that after coming off the pill for nuerous years, that it can take time to conceive. I think its just all about a waiting game at this point. Enjoy it and don't want it sooo badly (easier said that done) but the more you want it - the longer it seems to take. Hope things work out for you :)
