early labor

Is it possible to be in early labor over a few weeks? My ob says these contractions are just braxton hicks but ignores me when i tell her they dont feel like my bh ive been getting them for a while now these new ones are recent. Ive lost most of my plug but im not thinning or dialated yet. Could i be in early labor and is it possible to be in early labor before active labor for weeks? This is too early (31 weeks)

I'm going natural unless it's medically needed like I've been in labor to long and I need rest.

Hmm, might be worth going to l&d then. They can put a ctg on your belly and tell if they are contractions and how far apart they are and stop it if they need to. No harm in getting checked!

That doesnt sound exactly like these pains. Its a ton of pressure and pain, and moving around doesnt make them better. Its like intense pain that starts in my lower back and radiates forward. They are still to the point i can maybe walk during them but i have to really think about it and focus on breathing.

If it helps with me my bh would come a couple of times an hour and were really uncomfortable but I could still walk, talk and breath ok and if I moved position or did something different they went away. When I had real contractions 3mins apart the pain came in waves and was so bad I felt it got worse when I breathed in and I was crying and dreading every one, it didn't make a difference what position I was in and there was no way I could talk through it.

I'd been getting bh since 18wks, dr said normal. Then irregular uterine contractions at 24wks, even had a big one in the middle of ob appointment, dr said it was ok as they were random. 27wks woke up feeling off with occassional menstrual cramps, by lunch went to toilet with bad intestinal cramps, felt like I couldn't get off the toilet for 1.5hrs, then I lost mucus plug and real contractions started and holey moley are they different to bh! Got to hospital in time for them to stop it but they had to stop it two more times over the following days and kept me in for nearly 2wks. Now at home on strict bedrest. Follow your instincts and let them know if you feel something isn't right but at the same time you'll know when things start getting more labour like. Good luck!

I was considered to be in preterm labor at 33 weeks. My contractions started out as braxton hicks, but than started to get very intense and only 2-3 minutes apart. When they checked me, I was 2cm dilated. So they admitted me and gave me magnesium to stop the contractions. It is possible to go into preterm labor early but you will for sure know the difference between bh contractions and real contractions. I know bh contractions can get pretty uncomfortable where its almost painful but real ones are painful. Without a doubt! I lost my mucus plug at 34 weeks and I am 36 weeks today.
