stripping membranes

I got to the doctor weds. and they are going to strip my membranes. im wondering if it will put me into labor...has anyone had this done and did it put u in labor?

Oh btw, First time I had it done I was 39 weeks, and at 3cm dilated 70% effaced, second time I was 40 weeks, 4cm dilated 90% effaced.

I've had my membranes stripped twice. Did nothing for me either times, besides give me some cramps, and the second time there was some bleeding.. But i didnt go into labor either times. :( I'm now 2 days overdue.

I had it done at 39+2 had my little guy 2days later !! Labor went pretty fast I did most of it at home...Good luck

I was 38+6...dilated 2.5-3 cm and 100% effaced...when I had mine done...had my baby the next day

Got mine done just short of 38 weeks with my first, had her natural after 15 hours labor 3 days later!  Pretty smooth for me.  Going to request it with this one too.

i was 39 weeks when they first stripped my membranes for my last child and still did not go into labor at my 40 week visit they tried again and again did not go by the time i was 41 and 1/2 weeks i was desperate and so were they so were they i was contracting like i was supposed too but the baby just did not want out so at 41 and 3/4 weeks they gave me Pitocin  to induce and this was done at the er @bout 11pm  and they had transferred me to the maternity ward where i delivered my baby at 4:21 am that was june 22 2012

They didnt really say why all i know is im dialated to 1 and thinned to 40%. but i know u can go a while being like that soo im not sure.

Ohh wow well im praying to god that doesnt happen to me...that just scared me lol how far along when they stripped ur membranes ill be 37 almost 38 weeks when they strip mine.

I did with my first and it did cause my water to break ... a little too early. I was put on pitocin eight hours after my water broke but still no more progress until twenty four hours after it broke. Had my son vaginally twenty six and a half hours after my water broke. Because it took so long, I developed an infection that continued and got worse up to nine weeks postpartum. I have never heard of anyone else having this problem, but I still will opt out with this pregnancy.
